This is a simple driver glitch. Uninstall the sound drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the sound card and reinstall the drivers automatically. Then you may need to readjust the settings.

It could be that the audio device may be drawing more power than the usb port are capable of. I wouldn't think so on this machine , but the power output varies from machine to machine. I have a newer Dell, and I recently bought one of those small pocket type 250g external hard drives, and my usb ports won't support it, not enough power. You might try a different device, or cross reference the port output to the device input.

You can usually reference the port through the system configuration section for your machine at Dell's support site. This is statring to sound like a faulty port.

Installing internal dell m90 smart card reader

You have to take apart a good portion of the laptop to reach the Smart Card Reader spot. You need to turn off the computer, unplug the AC power and remove the battery first. Make sure that you are grounded to the computer. Then remove your optical drive and the hinge cover. Next you remove the mini-card antennas either from the mini-card or their secure spot, display assembly, the keyboard and the palm rest. Then you can reach the screw for the smart card reader and the place on the motherboard where the smart card reader connects.
The full set of steps and pictures is available from the Dell support site, http://www.dell.com/support/Manuals/us/en/19/product/precision-m90 . See the Workstation Service Manual. The direct link to the English version is ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_precision_mobile/precision-m90_service%20manual_en-us.pdf . I hope this helps.

Laptop SATA drive not working

You cannot take a hard drive out of your faulty HP laptop and insert it into any laptop and expect it to run/boot up. When Windows is installed on a laptop, it is configured with device drivers for that particular laptop and it wont work in another laptop with different devices.
Replace the Dell's hard drive back into its laptop and the Dell should function normally.
To recover data off the SATA Hitachi hard drive, connect this hard drive into an USB hard drive adapter and then plug this adapter with the Hitachi hard drive into the USB port of your Dell. The Dell will detect the Hitachi as an external Mass storage device. You can then open the various folders and files to back up your data onto the Dell laptop or USB memory stick.
If you want to, you can use the Hitachi hard disk as an USB external hard drive by installing it into an USB SATA hard drive enclosure.

How to install webcam on my latitude e6400 dell computor

What webcam are you trying to install. Most of the time it will be a USB connect webcam and you can follow the directions that cam with the webcam. If you do not have the directions or software to the webcam, do a search on the particular cam (Name, Model Number) to find the software so it can install the supported drivers.
Hope this helps-

WIRELESS CARD FOR LAPTOP

Hi

Your did not provide any info on which card you have or wish to install; USB, PC Card, or internal mini PCI card.

For mini PCI cards, first you have to open up the D600 laptop and install the Hardware (ensure to connect the antenna cables) then power-up and install the software (drivers and utility).

For USB and PC Cards, follow the device manufacture's recommended steps. Generally, for USB devices, the software (drivers and utility) needs to installed first before the hardware is connected.

If you have successfully installed the hardware and software (driver/utility) you can scan, choose and connect to an available wireless access point or wireless ad-hoc setup. This can be done through the wireless manufacture's utility or from Windows Wireless Zero Configuration utility. If you use the manafucature's utility, Windows Wireless Zero Configuration utility will not work; will not scan or list available wireless network.
