Desktop: Gateway LX6810-01 PC will not power on. When I hit the Power button on the tower, a long continuous BEEP comes on and nothing appears on the monitor. After the BEEP, the On light (on tower)...

Thank you for using FixYa

I would try shutting down the computer in the normal way, and turning off the monitor.
Boot up and turn the monitor back on.
If it still doesn't work, then I would check the cables and power plugs and wall plugs.
Check the mouse and keyboard cable and any other cables plugged into the computer.
The next step requires a seperate monitor or laptop.
Try unplugging the monitor and pluging in another monitor. Most laptops have a common
VGA adaptor jack or even an Svideo jack.
If the other monitor does not work, Then take to a qualified technician for repair.
It could be your power supply in the computer or video controller.

I hope this was useful and please comment if this was helpful to you.

Gateway GT5220 bios works no boot up

If the issue was the video card then there would be no display. If there was any display it would be discolored.

Try unplugging any removable media that's hooked up to the computer. After that try to boot it up.

If it still doesn't go anywhere then you most likely have a power supply issue on your hands. try unplugging an unnecessary components inside the computer such as any CD/DVD drives and removing any cards installed. Pretty much everything but the motherboard and the hard drive. If it still doesnt boot properly then you might either have to buy a new power supply or a new motherboard as long as you know your hard drive is good.

The thing si if it was an issue with the hard drive you would get an error message. If you seemed to have left out any error messages please post them.

Gateway splash screen thats all I get

Try hitting the delete key over and over at boot up. If you can get to BIOS, you can disable the splash screen, and also make sure that the boot order is correct. Try to put your hard drive as first boot priority. Also, remove any CD's in the drives.

Good Luck.

Blank screen

Try plugging the laptop into an external monitor to make sure the laptop is booting up properly. If it is unplug the monitor from the laptop; or if you know the laptop boots up fine and you get the windows audio when it boots and the initial starting beeps then forget the monitor. Shine a torch or light source on the screen and if you see a faint picture then the inverter on the screen has developed a fault.

powersource is good.motherboard might be the problem.harddrive can be tested by putting it in
another computer and see if it boot up.to test the mother board unhook the cd drives and harddrive.turn
on the computer and see if the gateway logo comes on.if it still does the the samething with everything unhooked
then it might be the bios.you might have to flash the bios and reinstall it.to do this i recommend you take it to a
shop.if the comp runs with everything still unpluged and stops then you know that you have a wrong
setting on the harddrive or cd drive.if you got two of anything make sure that you have a slave or master.if you nned me to
write a guide email me at gamecrazy944@yahoo.com or if you got anymore questions.

You have your power settings to dim the monitor after a period of time passes. On your desktop right click, then properties tab, select screen saver tab, then power tab. Play with the settings until you set what you desire for power saving options. I hope this helps.

My compaq presario lcd is working but it has no lights

If by lights, you mean the LED lights located around the exterior of the laptop (like the power light, hard drive light, etc.) then you may have accidentally switched those off.

First you need to locate the 'FN' key. On most laptops it's located on the bottom left of the keyboard, under the 'shift' key.

Next you will need to look for a symbol on the keyboard that would represent the LEDs. It's usually a light bulb, and is almost always located on the 'Fx' keys on the top of your keyboard (F1, F2, F3, etc.).

Once you have located the correct key, you need to hold the 'fn' key that we found earlier, and press the 'Fx' key that corresponds to the LED (or light bulb) button.

For example, on a older model Gateway laptop, I will hold the 'FN' key on the bottom left, and press 'F1'.

If by lights you mean the backlighting for the LCD screen, which would make the LCD screen appear very dim, then you will have to have the screen serviced or replaced.

I hope that helps, and if you have any questions, please let me know.
