make sure you have the latest version of the program and the latest updates for your OS (you could even try older versions of the software). Is the software compatible with vista? Try and run the program in safe mode... If it still don't work then maybe it just isn't compatible with your current system configuration (google the problem to see if others had the same issue). does it freeze other computers running vista? Ask yourself these types of questions to narrow down the possiblities and therefore finding the source of your problem. Use Motorola Phone Tools 4.5 software. And no, it's not free. Oh, and if you happen to have Verizon as your cellular provider, then Motorola Phones Tools will not let you transfer photos and music/ringtones.

There can be many possibilities and fixes to this problem. If your PC is Vista Home Basic, many drivers will not be automatically installed. In this case, you must go to google and look for vista-compatible drivers for your phone. Just search something like "Razr V3c Vista Drivers".
The other problem could be and most likely is: the drivers arn't compatible with Windows Vista. Most of these phone programs were created before Vista was even announced, so they don't have compatibility. Again, search google or your phone manufacture's website for more updated drivers.
The last problem could be a bad connection between the phone and the PC, or the phone is already "registered" to your last PC, in which case you must take it to the store and get it "unregistered", but that is rare.
its because windows vista runs under 64 bit computing which has compatibility problems, u'll have to get the 64 bit cd from the retailer u bought the mobile from or atleast mention your phone manufacturer and model so i can search for its driver that accepts installation on 64 bit computers.
