Re: samsung digimax s700
TIPS: 1.)NEVER PUSH THE LENS IN AFTER CAMERA DIES, BUY A NEW BATTERY IMMEDIATLY AND TURN IT BACK ON, CLOSING THE LENS!
2.)NEVER USE AN AC ADAPTER, USE A RECHARGEABLE BATTERY OR A REGULAR BATTERY!
..to fix this...
Do as i say..
1.) Remove battery 2.) Remove front plate (screw driver may be needed) 3.) Check all gears, make sure they are correctly fitted in place) 4.) Move the gear manually to make the lens come out. 5.) keep it out, put the front plate back together. 6.) reinsert the battery, turn it on.
or... 1.) Remove the battery. 2.) Wait about 6-8 hours. 3.) Reinsert the battery.
or... 1.) Remove the battery. 2.) Try hooking it up through AC adapter, put correct voltage. 3.) Try turning it on. 4.) Remove AC adapter, reinsert battery. 5.) Turn it on.
If nothing happens just tell me..

The three beeps mean that the lens motor is unable to extend the lens assembly. This could be due to a low battery situation, but the most likely cause is the lens drive train stuck or jammed. You'll find generic instructions on solving some cases of jamming here. http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html
Unfortunately, more serious cases (due to falls, shocks, and most of all, the camera being turned on while some resistance prevents the lens from extending: e.g., if the camera accidentally turns on while in a pocket) require the repair shop.
The Samsung digimax takes standard AA batteries (but you already new that). The beeps sound like a flat battery warning.
A lot of reviews of this camera note its very high drain on batteries. Are you using good quality AA batteries (for example Duracell M3 or Energizer lithiums)?
If you are trying to run it with "very inexpensive" alkalines (or worse yet - common zincs), then you may proceed directly to flat battery warning, as they cannot provide enough sustained current to run it.
Just had same problem with mine, I wiggled/turned the lens a couple of times before turning it on, and it popped out of the stuck position and closed again. It's working - but clicking when I move the lens in or out.... :(
Met the same problem. I disassembled camera and found a lot of sand in lens transmission. I couldn't move lens even by hand. It was strongly jammed. I had to disassemble lens block completely to remove all sand. Now camera fully functional.
Mine got stuck with lens out. The batteries were new so I never imagined it could be the batteries, but they were cheap ones so I recharged a pair of good ones and once I put tried them on it worked just fine again. Conclusion, the "new" cheap batteries had only enough energy to turn it on and then they couldn't give it enough energy to make it work anymore and that's why I couldn't retract the lens or even turn it off properly. So in your case, try using a couple of good and new batteries.
I had this same problem, and all i did was pop out the SD card, and tried turning it on without it in there. It powered up just fine. I then replaced the SD card and all was well. Possibly a problem with teh SD card.
A temporary fix to power up is to press the menu and power button at
the same time. When the lens is extended and it beeps, on my camera ,
the lens is *stuck* Give it a gentle tug , then try the power button
I had the same problem. Try to turn it on, 3 beeps and then it would shut down. Screen would come on for that time. Also, the lens was stuck open. It wouldn't close.
I twisted the lens (gently) and it appeared stuck. A gentle screw motioned seemed to free it. I hit the power button and it come on, but this time no 3 beeps and shut down. I then turned it off and this time the lens retracted and closed.
So, it appears that if the lens gets stuck open, it has a shut down feature that doesn't allow the camera to go further into its operation modes. I believe this stuck open problem occured on our camera when the batteries went low.
Again, a second of gentle twisting seemed to unstick it and with fresh batteries in, it was able to operate and shut down properly.
As far as batteries, I use the rechargeable Ni-Cad 2500 mA. They last a while.
