Everything was just fine until I changed my water filter on my side by side frig. Now water is leaking from the filter inside the refrigerator. I've changed my filter many times without a problem, but now the cup that covers the filter is filling up with water and overflowing onto my top shelf. It is a frigidaire pure source plus
This happened to me and was the o-ring, the cup is sealed by the o-ring and in my case I did not realise it dopped off after I unscrewed. Either your o-ring is missing or needs replaced as it is worn out.

Cut water supply off to frig disconnect water supply line to frig water inlet valve turn water back on to make sure you are getting good water supplied to water inlet valve some times water cut off gets stopped up. If you are getting good water flow to water inlet valve then check to make water valve is opening up all the way. if not then replace valve.
The solenoid valve that controls the water dispenser is leaking internally. It will be a double valve (one for ice, the other for chilled water) located at the bottom of the frame in the back of the unit. To find it, just trace where the plastic tubes originate from.
Easy to replace.
These leaks are sometimes caused by particles getting trapped on the valve seat. This can be prevented by use of an inline water filter on the copper supply line.
Those filters are for refrigerators that have heavily treated water in the household. You could have a filter that filters your water supply and not use the filter inside the frig. Why use both? Now, if your home is not filtered, you may need it. Check to see if the water supply line is crimped somewhere or frozen when it gets inside the frig.
SMALL PLASTIC water pipe under front of door has joiner which changes from 8mm ? TO 10MM ? this leaked on mine and had to be replaced .any good plumbing supply shop could supply. May need to be tightned.
you need to change the filter on the bottom of the refrigerator, take off the outside cover on bottom of fridge and on the left hand side right above the tray that keeps filling up there is a round filter that unscrews. unscrew it and replace the filter. You can get the filters at Lowes or Home Depot for about 20 bucks, hope this helps.
Check if there is frost on the back wall of the freezer, if so it is not defrosting. Many GE fridges need a new defrost heater every couple of years. If it's not defrosting, you can get by for a while by unplugging the fridge and leaving the freezer door open for 24 hrs, then plugging back in.
The issue is with length of the filter and the space behind the filter allowing it to bend.
Along with many people we put a lot of things in our frig. When you jam things into your frig they can hit the filter causing it to bend towards the back of the frig. The long filter becomes a lever putting extra force on the plastic threads on the filter causing them to crack and leak.
Luckly we noticed our leak early and did not have a big leak into the floor below. But when I was removing items from the frig to get to the filter we had just bought two big gallons of milk and one was jammed into the filter.
You can try to remember to not put to much on that side, but within a month you will for get. Best thing to do until GE comes up with a better filter is to tape a wedge to the filter that fills the space between the filter and the back of the frig. That way if you jam a big gallon milk into the filter it will not bend and crack.
