Hitachi 50V720 Rear Projection TV

Hi,

My TV is only 1 1/2 years old. Unfortunately I did not buy the extended warranty. The problem I'm having with the TV is that it makes a pop sound and then the picture and sound will cut off. The TV light is still on but no picture or sound. When I unplug the TV and leave it off for about 30 min. and cut it back on everything works again. Please help. Thanks.

    Thanks for your help. A Sears service rep came out and looked at the T.V. and he said it needs a new light engine and the cost to repair the T.V. would be $1500.00. We paid $1700.00 for the T.V. two years ago. We are just going to wait until we don't have a picture at all and go purchase a new plasma and buy the extended warranty of course. Thanks.

Good Day, douganddawnc;
What ever is popping is locking up the CPU circuit. Call a Factory Authorized Service Center Have figure out what is popping, get an estimate first. Good Luck, big IRISH.

    Good Day, Dawn;

    Now that you know what is wrong, don't stop there. Call Hitachi, TELL them you want a CONCESSION for parts and labor, They will probably give you parts, but ask for both.

    Have these items on hand when you call:

    1). Model and Serial Numbers,

    2). Purchase Date,

    3). Estimate.

    Try this number and ask for customer service,1-800-HITACHI.

    Good Luck, big IRISH.

My rear projection Mitsubishi TV all of the sudden

No, this is a convergence circuit problem. The cost of this repair is about $450. This is something that you can't do on your own. Call an Authorised Service Dealer and get estimate or buy new one . If you buy a new TV buy an extended WARRANTY because they are not as reliable as the OLD TV's.

Good Luck, Big Irish.

Blue Haze in middle of screen progressively getting larger

This one is easy. WHen this happened to me, I simply called GE extended warranty service up and bought an extended warranty. I waited 30 days and called them up with my problem. A repair man showed up a few days later with the 1200 dollar light engine and installed it and left. Then I called GE up and cancelled the warranty. Total cost?: 48 bucks

Hitachi 43FDX Rear Projection TV

If the picture was good prior to the 3D images, I would fix it. The convergence ICs either have poor connections or are defective. The IC is an STK392-110. There may be 2 inside the set. If you have this repaired, expect a labor cost in the $200 range. Request that the ICs be replaced rather than the board changed. This will maintain all of the internal settings and require only part replacement not a complete re-convergence adjustment.

Keep us posted.

We bought our Hitachi 50" tv in 2004. Recently it had a blue cloud and finally the lamp went out. We replaced it after ordering the part from Hitachi. This has been only a few weeks ago. The blue cloud is...

id guess your set is like a 50v500 or 50v720 its a lcd rear projection
the blue cloud come from a warped lcd plate in the optic engine and would require replacment to correct this problem
if you have a extended warranty you would want to contact them
if not you might contact hitachi consumer affairs and ask them if there would be any assistance with this repair

Hitacha 50V720's Lamp Bulb

Projection TV makers charge an arm and a leg for their replacement lamps. They make it easy to do but as a result the custom lamp assy is expensive. The trick is to just buy the bulb for your model TV from any number of us aftermarket sources at a fraction of the lamp price and install it in the old lamp yourself. really easy. Some models are real bulb hogs though. Look them up on the net (include the word complaint or repair) before you buy, or you might be sorry. Many class action lawsuits out there - even against some of the name brand makers.
