The ballast supplies voltage to the lamp to light it up and there must be a problem with it supplying too much voltage and burning the lamp out. Do a google search or ebay or shopjimmy.com for price and availibility with your model number. Or google with the model number followed by the word "ballast".

Hi anna,
Make sure you have plenty of clearance between the tv and the wall...if not it will keep sucking in the heated air and cause the bulbs to blow.

How due you replace the lamp in the Toshiba Toshiba 65HM167 65 in. Television

Pop off the front panel below the tv screen. Remove bulb cover door (screw) and then remove the bulb housing. Replace with new bulb and reverse the process.

Manufacturers may refer to the bulb as the lamp. They are one and the same.

Lamp went out on the tv. We replaced but there is still no picture and the TV keeps resetting .

okay you have to make sure you close the door that the buld goes into there is a liitle micro switch that only triggers when the cover is removed it stops the tv from lighting up the bulb once you close the door and all are put back together properly the tv will come on if it dosent you need to read in between the flashing codes

Unfortunately lamps go bad without the visible state of being bad. I don't know who or where you bought the lamp from but I order all my lamps through dlplamps.com
The clicking sound you hear is the lamp inverter igniteing the lamp but the lamp is bad.

the pop was your bulb breaking. You have to buy a new one. so easy to replace. please refer to your manual on how to access the bulb casing

Your TV is a DLP one lamp does it all, not like the old projection TVs with the Red, Green & Blue CRTs. Your TV may have a bad light engine or lose cable connections.

I have the same problem. This is the second bulb in 6 months. The first one lasted 13 months. The bulb explodes inside and makes a loud snap noise, like an arc. The repair guy said it was the ballast along with the bulb. Good luck
