My keyboard is not responsive unless I hit the keys very hard. Its making me crazy. My "m" key isnt working unless I really continue to hit it hard.

Hitting it hard ( and I can understand your frustration), will not help the keyboard problem.
I think you have a fault in the keyboard connector lead. The best way is to replace the keyboard with a new one or good 2nd hand one ( ebay is a good starting point). You can also prise off the offending key and clean underneath, however, this is a very delicate task.

The other solution ( and I'm going to get flack from the purists for suggesting it), is to remove the keyboard and wash it in warm soapy water, rinse it and let it dry THOROUGHLY" for 24 hours, this gets muck out from under the keys and works well if you spill coffee etc on the keyboard.

Distilled water for the rinse is best

I don't guarantee the above, but if you need to replace the keyboard, you have nothing to lose

HOW TO USE TOUCH RESPONSE

There are two samples for each note in the "Piano" sound samples. This allows you to play "soft = p" or "Loud = f" based on how hard you hit the keys.
The default setting of 2 suit most people. You can change the touch response to 3 (more hard) or 1 (less hard). With tough response set to 3 - you play mostly the soft samples until you bang the key much harder.
This is a keyboard that tries to give a bit of effect that an acoustic piano hammer mechanism would give.

Daniel, Sounds like you may have a virus. Hardware issues are usually an all or nothing, either works or doesn't and wouldn't change to different keys on reboot. I would suggest running a virus scan with updated virus definitions. Neil

Keys do not work unless you hit them really hard. keyboard is only 18months old and its really frustrating.

try blowing out all of the dust from your keyboard using a fine air blower from an air compressor making VERY sure there is no MOISTURE in the lines.
dust causes static which causes lots of problems with a computer and its parts

hope this helps

Soda was spilt on Toshiba Satellite P505D-S8007 Keyboard... Machine is functioning fine after HD replaced... Letter "z" key on keyboard not functioning... Popped key off & clean under it......

Unless you were extremely thorough in cleaning, you have a short-circuit or an open-circuit on that key that is still creating a problem. Replace the keyboard. Note that as the soda continues to dry out, some of the sugars in the drink will continue to condense on your computer's motherboard, causing short-circuits and intermittent problems. So, make GOOD and FREQUENT backups of your files, just in case your computer "dies".

Problem keyboard

either remove the batteries from the keyboard and the mouse, and unplug the receiver from your computer, and leave them all unplugged for about an hour.

otherwise, you might wind up literally taking the keyboard apart and cleaning it, which isnt recommended unless you really know what youre doing.

otherwise, you simply will wind up buying a new setup there.

Symbols gone crazy

The keyboard appears to be defective, but if you replace it and you still have issues, then the matrixing chip on the motherboard is bad and you will have to change the motherboard as well. Let me know, and vote.
