You have to test components using a Multimeter. Often you don't see when they have blown, eventually you can smell them as they burn.
Warranty cover to tube may be extended for some fee, get first info on the guaranty, call the number printed on your owner manual and check.
For the rest , your tv has some thousends components inside, if you want to DIY , you will need the service manual.
From there you follow diagrams and procedure to find the fault when you have no video.

Most of the time, having something repaired costs more than buying a new one.

Try this,

Disonnect all the cables from the TV. Normally you will get to and no signal screen.

Leave the TV on for the same amount of time as normal and see if the blue screen collapses in on itself. If so, you definitely need service. If not, it could be the cables, or even the source of your image.

Its still worth fixing and its still cheaper having this fix and taken to a repair center that buying a new one, probably there's only some IC's that needs to be solder...

Good luck..........

It's just a blown/bulged capacitor inside the TV's circuit board. You can check it if you can open the tv casing. Call a tv technician to replace the component or if you can DIY it, that's great.

Since your TV is still under manufacturers warranty. Anything you may do to the TV may void it's warranty. I work at an authorized service center and have seen too many times when people think they can fix something themselves and end up with a voided warranty. You really should take it in or have a authorized Sylvania TV service center come to your home and check it out for you. In home service is offered by manufacturers and is normally covered by the warranty.

Anything you may be able to do to get it working this time will most likely happen again since it has happened before. Getting it serviced by an authorized Sylvania TV service center may fix the problem permanently.

This may not be the answer you are looking for, but it is the smartest thing you can do. A little hassle now getting it fixed properly will probably save you money and more of a hassle in the future.

    Hope this may help;

Hi,
if picture folds in horizontaly, your tv has dry solder joints in vertical deflection area. There are few electrolytic capasitors you need to replace as well. If you are technical person and know about electronics, than can fix at your own.

if its only video then it must be some internal problem only.

you will have to replace some components.

Toshiba TV with only a horizontal picture?

You could have a simple loose connection on the vertical output IC . Sometimes you can tap the board and the picture will fill out . Or the IC could have failed . It will also take out the resistor that supplys the voltage to the vertical IC . If you take it apart to work on be careful as you can be shocked if you don't know what your doing . Most repair shops charge $50 to $80 to repair . Good luck
