There is a black rectangle in the middle of t.v. how to get it to go away

    i have a zenith and cannot get the capt to go off i can get it off on reg tv but when i watch tv in the componant mode the capt will not give me the option to high light it to where i can turn it off please help

This may be a result of an incompatible closed caption format being turned on in the TV. I recommend that you make sure the closed caption is turned off on the TV.

I do know that on Zenith CRT televisions of the 1990's this will happen and all I did to fix it is to go to the menu and turn the text feature off. This may be true with your Sharp as well.

Some channels on direct tv have a black rectangle


Either your tv or your directv receiver is on the text mode of the closed captioning function turn closed caption off and this will disappear.

Large Black Box Showing up in middle of screen.


Try and turn off the closed captioning. I had the same problem and it turned out that the closed captioning was on t1 instead of OFF. Hope this helps!!!!

Sounds like you have the TV in the "close caption " mode (text), turn off. 2. Check batteries and the mode the remote is in; eg TV, VCR, Cable & ect. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Zenith SL2773W problem


The dark rectangle appears because you have the closed captions on and set to TEXT. Closed captions set to CC1 puts the words on the screen and TEXT puts a black box on the screen. Go into the menu, navigate to the page with closed captions and set your captions to OFF.
