Start of by laying the machine on its back unfasten the solepate (which is the cover over the brush roll) as soon as its unfastened it will release with ease then you will see the brush roll with the belt around it simply pull the brushroll out of its position and release the belt from the motor spindal (if attached) and then out your new belts around the slot on the brush roll and feed the belt over the motor spindal (this will be very tough to strech on. Once you have done that out the brush roll back in its position and the soleplate back and you should have succesfully fitted a belt to your dyson.

Why wont the brushes spin?

Most likely, the belt is broken. I'll bet the roller is covered with hair, thread, string. If brush roller is not routinely cleaned, string, hair becomes rapped around it and makes it more difficult for the belt to turn it. Eventually, the increase in friction and heat weakens the belt and the belt either breaks or stretches out. Try cleaning the rollers and replacing the belt.

You will need to pull the roller out and clean it. I think some of the strings are tangle up at the end of this roller. (Most rollers will come apart at the end for cleaning.) Make sure that the strings are not tangle up on the belt pulley as well. I hope this will help you.

I cleaned the roller on my Dyson DC 07, and after reassembly, it makes a sound like the belt is being chewed. I took it apart a couple times, goes back together fine, but still makes the noise

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Your machine is designed to make this ratchet noise if the brush bar is obstructed. We would recommend checking the brush bar and soleplate area and removing any blockages or hairs/threads that are wrapped around the brush bar.

Full details on these checks can be found in our Support section online at www.dyson.com.

Kind regards

Hair getting stuck in the belt drive area causing beater to skip

Hair, string, tinsel, etc. have always been problems for rollers and belts. You will have to remove the hair. It can often get stuck at the ends of the rollers also and keep the roller from turning. I usually remove the roller and clean it using a screwdriver, knife, etc. to remove the hair. the cleaning can be done while the roller is still on the unit by turning the unit over although this may not offer as much free access to the roller. Of course, removing the roller means removing the belt and if you are not up to this (I don't know how handy you are), I would try to remove the hair with the roller on. If you do this, be careful not to put any nicks in the belt. Good luck!

Sweeper Brush doesn't turn.

Could be that too much hair, string, or long fibers have been collecting around the roller. Remove it and clean it off. Also check the duct behind roller that goes up into the connection hose. Ther most likely is some sort of blockage.

Dirt lifter power brush won't move

most likely the small belt that turns the brush roller came off or broke, thi item can be purchased where you bought your unit. also, after you replace the belt, clean out tangled hair or strings that may have caused the belt to go.

Dyson make noise after replacing brushroll

Try this open sole plate check make sure belt is not pinched, broken or binding, that thee are no strings or hair between belt & roller,& that belt it is centered on roller.
Be careful & turn roller by hand should torn smoothly except for belt tension.
Also check make sure end bearings are seated correctly. (the parts at the end of the roller where they go into housing.)

Hope this helped. Please rate. If you need more help comment back be happy to assist you further.

Dyson Brush proplem

Hi Dave.

Ok you need to lift belt end of roller up, so that you get the roller straight then lower roller down so that both ends go in at same time down.

Use a large flat screwdriver to help lever roller up from belt end & watch your fingers (Ouch).
