I have a sta-rite p6e6F-207L pool pump - I have a leak where the tank body assembly is clamped together with the Seal plate. I have tightened the clamp down as far as it will go and it does not resolve the leak - am I looking at getting a new O-Ring or could there be something else wrong here. the pump is about 1 year old and has been leaking all season. It was installed with the pool last year and was not run until July. I do not remember the leak last year.

My in-ground pool pump...Sta-rite 11/2 hp...leaks at the outlet fitting. Changed fitting twice, using teflon tape as recommended...still leaks.

I don't recommend Teflon tape as it places outward pressure on the pump and can cause the pump body to crack. and if that happens the pump body will need to be replaced. I use black RTV silicone. smooshing it into the threads of both fittings and hand tightening the fitting.. then the glue the pipe as normal
REMEMBER to prime the pump after any pump repair !!
Teflon tape works well on metal pump like well and irrigation, they are a high pressure pump and are generally cast iron tanks.

I am having problems with my sta rite p6e6f-207l pool pump it clicks on and off, check the voltage and all is correct. I have this on a timer and have check the timer and it is functioning correctly. What...

It may well be that the capacitor is blown. Remove the rear cap on the motor (with the breaker tripped, please), and take the capacitor to any local appliance or electronics supply. They can test it for you and sell you another if necessary. Best regards, W/D.

Pump is leekin water

there are a couple of places where the pump may leak. The discharge fitting, the seal plate o-ring, or the shaft seal. If the shaft seal is leaking, water will be dripping from the bottom of the pump where the motor mates to the seal plate.

How do you replace a seal on a Sta-Rite pool pump? How do you remove the old seal? Ceramic and graphite.

Replacing a shaft seal requires some good mechanical ability.
first, always make sure power is off at the breaker before you work.
You'll have to remove the band holding the wet end to the seal plate. Then remove the diffuser covering the impeller. Remove the cover on the back of the motor. You either need a 7/16 open end wrench or a armature tool to hold the motor shaft while you unthread the impeller (if the impeller has a screw in the middle, you will have to remove it by turning clockwise, left hand threads) counterclockwise. You can then pull the carbon part of the seal off of the impeller, make sure to remove all of it including the metal sleeve. You will then have to remove the seal plate and push the ceramic part out from the back. You can then clean and lube the seal plate and install the new ceramic part of the seal, try not to touch the ceramic with your hands if possible. You can then lightly lube the impeller shaft and slide the carbon part of the seal with the carbon facing toward the ceramic as you thread it on. If the seal plate had a copper heat sink, you can either replace it or use a different size seal. (I believe it's a PS-201) Re-install the seal plate, impeller (and screw if applicable) and diffuser. You should now be ready to mate the seal plate to the wet end. Make sure you fill the pump before you try starting it up, especially with a new (dry) seal.

Please explain how do i get the clamp off

If the clamp you are referring to is the metal band that holds the motor/seal plate to the pump assembly, there is a nut and washer that needs to be removed. Some have a plastic knob instead of the nut. When putting the assembly back together, be sure the clamp/band is seated correctly around the two pieces. Epecially on the bottom portion of the pump. Hope this helps.

I had to replace my pump motor and can't get my pump to quit leaking at the joint. I am trying RTV Sealer as we speak.

Did you change the seals? Whenever pump motors are replaced, the ceramic shaft (mechanical) seal should be replaced. Its also a good idea to replace the seal plate and diffuser seals.

Tring to take the pump face off the motor

You have to remove the back cover from the motor. Next loosen the capacitor. Put a 7/16" wrench on the shaft and the pump impeller will screw off by hand.
