Question about Packard Bell PC Desktops

1 Answer

I have a packard bell ipro desktop computer that will not turn on. I was using it when we had a power cut and once the power was back the computer wouldn't turn on. I assumed that the computer was ok and a fuse had blown in the lead, so I changed the fuse and this didn't work I also tried changin the lead but again this still doesn't work. I assume there is a fault in the power secton in the machine but have no ide what to ask for when looking for a replacement component. Any ideas? Thanks Rupert

Alot of times especially hp the computer goes into self protect mode and will not turn on. You can undo this by unplugging the machine and pressing in the power button for 10 secs. Plug machine back in and try again. If that fials you most likely have a fualty power supply and those are cheap in comparison to a new computer, around 40 bucks maybe less.

Wow, it's about time to dump the Packard Bell. Maybe the Video Card has gone bad in the Packard Bell and if you fix it your old monitor might work.

Packard bell ipro yellow flashing light

Huh! Sounds like a power issue. Unplug, try cleaning out the guts in case something got in there, and retry, and again with a spare power supply if things are still bad. It would help to know whether something other than the power supply's clicking, I suppose....

My computer has crashed want a cd to put it back to factory setting its a packard bell pc

If you borrow a oem cd off some one with the same operating system as you then you can use your original product key which you can find on the tower off your computer.

There is a solution for this problem, but you have to be very computer orentated to correct it. First look in the programs listing under startup and see if there is a link there for the PacBell auto start when the computer tarts each time it is turned on. If there is a link there right click on it and delete the shortcut from the startup menu. restart the computer and see if it is still there. if so go back and look in the startup menu selection and see if it has reappeared. If it has then you will have to shut off the windows auto recovery option so it will not replace the missing file when the computer is restarted. Now if this does not work, you will have to get someone that is familiar with the registry files. You do not want to go probing around in there or you may just shut down tour computer permanently. A professional will have to go in and search for the file entry that controls the option and then delete the corresponding registry entries. Regards, rcampsr

I am giving you a step which you should try once and see if it makes any difference.

Method (Power cycle)

You need to unplug the power cord from the tower and also remove any other device connected to the computer (May be any additional cards or any wires as for Ethernet or speakers mouse, keyboard).

Nothing should be connected at all to the tower.

Now Press and hold the power button on the tower for 25 seconds (It wont show anything). This is a step to release any static charges developed, which may surely caused the kind of issue you are facing.

Now connect the Power, keyboard and mouse and check, it should certainly work now.

Hope this should help

Sammy

My packard bell s4 laptop computer screen has turned 270 degrees clockwise and i don't know how to turn it back. help please! :)

I have seen this before with some ATI graphics card. In the tray beside the clock should be an icon for the graphics card utilities. If you right click on there you should find an option to change it back.

Though, I remember navigating with a twisted screen was hard. Good luck.
