I sounds like you have the video card set to a resolution that is higher that the E177 can handle. It can only go to 1280 x 1024 resolution. You will need to boot into safe mode in windows and set the resolution lower than that so the monitor can show it correctly.

My screen on hp 1907 went blank, my 13 yr old nephew started punching all the buttons on the monitor over and over and hitting the on and off button. Now I am having a problem with my screen going black...

I think it's pretty clear he messed something up. Try checking the VGA cable (the blue one) that's hooked up to both you computer and monitor. Check if any pins are bent or broken. If not, make sure they're securely plugged in and try booting up. If it still doesn't work, then I'm afraid he may have knocked some connection in the motherboard out of whack. I hope it's just a slight VGA problem. Hope this helps!

E177FPc dell lcd no power and no display

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

I bought a used dell monitor e177fpc when i hook it up to my comp. i get can not support 1280 x 1024 resolution

Try downsizing the resolution, and then try unplugging your adapters. If it's not working still, it's a bug in the drivers, which should be taken to a professional to be looked at.

Dell E177FPc flat screen monitor

If its the standard type of small clicky on/off button( (usually a black dot with silver casing - but you cannot see that unless your screen is dismantled), and its no longer doing the click bit, it's probably just broken inside unfortunatly.

They are very much prone to breaking up inside. If the screen can be taken apart, you may be able to buy a new button off the internet, but they are often 'surface-mounted' buttons now, which makes them very small and hard to resolder to the board again.

If the button can be felt still making a click, you may be able to spray some cleaning spray (such as SERVISOL or WD40) into the switch, as they sometimes just get dirty inside.
(make sure its turned off before spraying anything like that tho as its all highly flammable).

If you are trying to detach the screen edging, they are usually secured by 2 or 4 screws on the rear (sometimes they may be hidden behind the actual base/stand). After that, usea large flat bladed screwdriver (or something like that), to seperate the front & rear casings. The reason for starting at the bottom is that if you slip or the casing is very awkward and starts to crack as you work out how it comes apart, the marks will be hidden from view later :)

Some of the casings click apart easily like this, but others can take some force, and may even snap the small plastic tags inside as it cracks open - but that it up to the fixer if you wish to take that chance. The screws holding it together are usually more than enough anyway.
