Probably it is just your paper setting ( mostly is a4 to letter)
you may check the printing preferences and the settings of your print device.

Printer cutting off words

Is this happening with every program you use to print? If it's just a single program, try changing the line spacing. It sounds as if you've got the line spacing too small for the current font and it's cutting off the bottoms in order to print the next line.

We are using 8 1/2 x 11 letter size paper. When we print, the top of page is cut off. How do we correct the alignment?

Have you checked the top margin setting of your print job. It should be less than 1/4 inch. If set higher it may cut off the top of the page, before it's sent to the printer. The printer will not print anything within 1/4 inch of the edge of the page, by design.

Have you used page setup in words? is it a problem of A4 or Letter page size? If you have A4 as default in Word and Letter as default in the printer it would react that way (letter is wider while A4 is longer...)

Printed Tape Cuts Off Letters

I was having the ame issue. Found the solution on the user manual (posted online). Press Function, scroll to "Margin", press "Function", use arrows to select "#" or "##", then press Function again. Now it should print with a margin, thus not cutting off your letters. Mine was set to "-", which is basically no margin.

Look at the ribbon and see if the letters are on the very top of th ribbon. If so on the front of the carrier there is an eccentric screw for adj. ribbon height. Loosen the lock nut W/ a small 9/32 wrench and adj screw to raise ribbon. Be sure to check L/O with the underscore as you can get it to high.

Tops of letters are cut off when printing.

This is usually caused by clogged or burned out printhead nozzels. You can try putting the unit through a couple cleaning cycles. If that does not help, then replace the cartridge with a new HP BRAND cartridge. Do not trust refilled or compatible cartridges in this case. The heating elements in the individual nozzels can burn out causing your type of problem. Let me know one way or the other Ed

Make sure that manual feed is set to letter, on the printer front panel. This is a tabloid printer, so letter size sheets are fed long edge. The cassette will print okay because the media size info for the cassette is read by the printer from the cassette cams.
