This camera is compatible with vista and you dont need any software for this camera to work on vista, its plug in play device. When you connect the camera to your computer it should show up as removable disc under my computer. If its not showing up please try connecting the camera into different usb port and make sure your laptop is fully charged. It will work.

I have an older digital concepts camera and went to buy another SD card. I was told the newer SDHC 4GB card would possibly not be compatible. How can I know?

Look at the specifications page in the manual. If it mentions SD but not SDHC then most likely an SDHC card will not work. Without knowing the model of the camera I can give you neither yes nor no.

Of course, another way to find out would be to try it. You're not going to damage either the card or the camera by trying to format the card. It either works or it doesn't.

Hi my camera is the 81890 model. It won't turn on with the new batteries. I know I put them in correctly. It works only when attached to a pc. Please help!

You don't say what kind of batteries they are. New rechargeable batteries are supplied only partially charged. You need to charge them fully before use.

This card cannot be used

Make sure the gold contacts on the card are clean and, as far as possible, that no foreign matter has got onto the corresponding contacts in the camera.

Did you delete the pics when the card was still in the camera or did you take the card out & put it in a reader attached to a PC?

If the former, then I suggest you get yourself a card reader for your PC - they're very cheap now - and use that to copy any remaining pics from the card to the PC.and then format the card in the PC. Then re-format it AGAIN in the camera. If you can't read the card with a PC card reader then you can try to format it (you'll lose any pics on it). If that doesn't work then the card has probably developed a fault. Best to bin it & buy a new one. They're so cheap now it's often not worth wasting time trying to get money back from where you bought the camera.

If the latter and the card cannot be read by the PC then the situation is the same as above. If it can read it then copy all remaining pics from it to the PC then reformat it on the PC. Then try it again in the camera: reformat it in the camera and see if it works. If not then there's a good chance the camera has developed a fault.
