Cuisinart brew on demand coffee maker

Hi, my niece was just housesitting for us and when I returned from our trip, the coffee maker refuses to work, she tried to us it yesterday and no go.  I have always just used it on manual brew mode, and so have tried this morning to set it to brew a couple of minutes later on timer, but still no go. Any Ideas?? Elisia

My model is actually the one with no carafe.

  • delgo Aug 23, 2008

    Hi
It is actually model DCC 2000C

  • delgo Aug 23, 2008

There is no glass carafe, and I usually run the gold filter through the dishwasher, would this not be enough to clean it?

  • delgo Aug 23, 2008

This did nothing, I also checked the outlet to make sure that nothing had tripped the breaker.

  • delgo Aug 23, 2008

I plugged other elect. appliances into this outlet, and they worked fine. So it is nothing to do with the power source at the wall,

  • delgo Aug 23, 2008

No problem with the power supply at all

Maybe the power cord itself is burnt. If you have an electronic tester you can check it by shorting both poles of the power plug if it still functions fine. You can replace the power plug if found defective.

Do you hear the water moving?
if not,
you could try to flush the system by putting in boiling water in the reservoir without any filters or coffee. let it all drain out.

Do you hear the water heat?
is the reservoir casing hot when turned on?
If its not hot, your heating mechanism might have gone out. unless you want to send it for repair or open it yourself, Boil the water and run it though the coffee and filter.

First unplug machine from power, this will solve electronic problems by resetting the machine, in case it is not completing brewing cycle.
Check if water is being pumped to the filter.
Check for lose pipes inside machine.
If hose are obstructed machine may need to be taken apart and cleaned.

You need to undo internal pipes and blow them with compressed air, from description seems an obstructed hose, pump should be ok.

The gold permanent filter must be cleaned so

Try this:

Remove the filter basket from the coffee machine.

Remove the gold permanent coffee filter from the basket.

Clean the basket thoroughly. Ensure there are no grounds clogging any holes.

Insert a new paper filter only into the basket. Do not use the gold permanent filter for this test.

Fill the water reservoir with the desired amount of water.

Add the desired amout of coffee grounds into the paper coffee filter.

Replace the filter basket into its holder in the coffee machine, and close the water reservoir lid. Press firmly on top where it says, "Press to Close".

Ensure the glass carafe is placed correctly in its position on the heating plate.

Turn the Function Knob to "BREW", then flip the Power Swich to "ON"

The thermal breaker might have died in it. This is usually mounted on, or near the heating element and usually turns off when excessive temperatures are present It can be checked with a ohm meter on its contacts. If it shows as good, it should show up as normally closed. Some overtemp breakers have a small button for resetting, but most are simply supposed to reset themselves once the heat is sufficiently reduced. There are also heat fuses that blow...for good when excessive heat is detected, mounted in the same place, they are often a metal bullet shaped tube.
or .....your power cord...or main power switch could also be faulty............

Why do I get so many coffee grounds in my cuisinart on demand coffee maker?

Many times this is a result of the coffee grind. To overcome this with some brands, I use an additional filter, put the desired amount of coffee in it, and then fold the sides over to make an envelope. Place the folded sides down and brew coffee. If any of the coffee gets out, the second filter should catch it.

Fixing appliances is a dying art, and parts can be hard to get. Buy a new cheaper coffee pot. We've broken so many carafes that we won't pay more than $12 or so for a new coffeemaker.

My coffee grinder on my new machine is not working

Who is this mp3doctor anyway? This person must work for Cuisinart. Same posting for all of my searches. My grind and brew worked ok for the first year and then began having issues. Not grinding in any mode. If I stand over the unit and program it for several times it has worked. Seems to be an electrical issue that many other owners have.
Do not need the doctor to suggest that we should have better luck with buying another of the same. The odds are good for the game players not the consumers. We need solutions not marketing alternatives.
Our stainless Cuisinart looks great on the counter but thats about it. Had to take another morning trip to DDs. Tired of playing with this lemon!
