Following the re-install of your OS it is likely that one or more drivers were not re-installed, in particular the network card. I'm not sure which OS you are using but Windows only includes driver support for the most common devices at the time the installation CD was produced.
You can download drivers for your model at http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?
You will need to download them using a different machine and then transfer the network driver (using a disc, pen drive etc) to the laptop and follow the installation instructions.
Once you have restored the network driver you should be able to download any other required drivers direct to the machine.
I hope this helps and good luck! If you have more questions - ask away!
If you cannot purchase a Recovery CD from IBM/Lenovo then you can download the device drivers from their WEB support site.
To restore your T30 back to the original Windows beg borrow etc a Windows installation CD. This CD must match the Windows version on the label on the bottom of your T30, it also displays the Product Code and this is used to install Windows on your T30.
Follow these instruction to download and install the T30's device drivers. The same model ThinkPad can have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless you know exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download all the drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download the drivers, write down the device driver and it’s file name so you have a record of which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files are located on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP or Vista device drivers for your model computer, Use this link: - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true You can download the various drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, they will then unzip and expand into a sub folder on C:\drivers Then install the various drivers from this folder (run the set-up file).
Hi, During the boot at the THINKPAD SCREEN press the Thinkvantage key ( Blue button ) it will launch rescue and recovery and allow you to reboot factory. This only works if you did not corrupted/deleted the rescue and recovery hidden partition on the HDD.
Otherwise you will need the rescue and recovery CD to proceed. IBM/Lenovo support should be able to provide you the CD.
thanks and have a nice day J-
You don't need to buy a drivers CD, to install the drivers for this laptop, you can install them for free. Just go to Lenova Support & downloads, find the Lenova Thinkpad R61 laptop, and go to the Software & Drivers download page.
Here it is, http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67856
