It could be that your cartridge needs cleaning. On your computer, go to Start menu > All Programs > Lexmark 2600 Series Printer > Tools > Lexmark All-In-One Center > Maintenance > Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them. You can also try to manually clean the cartridge nozzles. Remove your cartridges from the printer. Wipe the cartridge nozzles using a slightly moistened soft cloth. Reinsert the cartridges into the printer. Try to print again.
If problem continues, try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.

My HP 6500 wont print black ink. It's like a very very light grey and I can't see it. Tried 2 new print cartridges and no luck. Please help.

Hello,

The HP 6500 printer has separate in cart and print heads. The light print you are getting is because the print head in clogged with dry ink. First thing to try is to go into the printer software on your computer and do a print head cleaning procedure, this will take a few minutes to finish. You may have to run this several times to clear out the dry ink. If this does not solve the problem when you will need to get a replacement print head, the part number is CB868-30002

Lexmark 3600-4600 stops at 34% when trying to print a test page. Color ink is low, but I only want black in any event.

If your color ink is already empty or not substantial for printing, then you must replace it with a new cartridge. The Lexmark printer will continue to print when there's substantial ink in the cartridges.
If you prefer to print in black and white as your default print setting, please follow the steps below: (make sure your black and color cartridges ink levels are good)

For Windows OS:

1. Go to Control Panel.

2. Open Printers and Faxes.

3. Right-click on Lexmark 3600-4600 Series print object and click on Properties.

4. In the Lexmark 3600-4600 Series Properties window, go to Advanced tab. Click on Printing Defaults.

5. In the Lexmark 3600-4600 Series Printing Preferences window, under Ink Use, select Print using black ink only. Click OK.

6. Click OK button in the Lexmark 3600-4600 Series Properties window to save the changes.

Your printer will print in black and white draft mode the next time you send a print job to the printer.

For Mac OS:

1. With the file (you wish to print) open, go to Print. A window will pop up.

2. Select the Lexmark printer.

3. Expand the arrow pointing down beside printer name if you're not able to see other options for printing. Look for Quality and Media.

4. Under Paper tab, select Print in Black and White.

5. Save this as your default print setting. Click Presets option and choose Save as. You can personalize the name for this default print setting (e.g. Black and White Draft or My Setting).

Select this Preset name every time you print your files/documents.

We print disc label and the discs need 10 minutes to dry!!!! Is there a way to solve the issue?

The only way to try to avoid this is with trial and error. You can adjust the amount of ink printed on the disk and the drying time in the software options but I can't guarantee you will be happy with the results. If adjusting the ink volume the printed image could become to lighter but it would dry faster. You will have to test some the settings and see the results for yourself.
Here's the steps from the manual to make the modifications:
Adjust the Ink Volume Used This functionality allows you to adjust the amount of ink that is used. 1. Navigate to Printing Preferences. (see below if unsure where to find) 2. Select the Basics tab. 3. Select Advanced Features. The Advanced Features window opens. 4. Move the Ink Volume and Dry Time sliders to increase or decrease the ink volume or dry time. - Important! Do not select the Low Memory checkbox unless your PC does not have enough memory or disk space to complete the print job you have requested. 5. Select OK. The Advanced Features window closes. 6. Select OK. The Preferences window closes

1. Access printing preferences. In Windows 2000, navigate: Start > Settings > Printers. In Windows XP, navigate: Start > Printers and Faxes. 2. Right-click on Disc Color Printer 480i and select Printing Preferences from the dropdown menu. The Disc Color Printer 480i Printing Preferences window opens.

My Lc61 will not print black--on the test page, the colors are fine. I've replaced the ink cartridge and it says it's full but won't print

Most likely this is a print head issue. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. To attempt to resolve it, do the following:

(1) Open the printer
(2) Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.
(3) Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water to thoroughly clean the print head and each ink cartridge.
(4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.
(5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges
(6) Try to print something now

If that does not work then you have one of two possibilities:
(1) One of the ink cartridges is defective and causing the error
(2) If it's definitely not that, then the print head will need to be replaced.

Cleaned C5180 but will not print in black

Hi,

Try running the cleaning process a few times. If its still not working, buy another black cartridge and stop refilling it with cheap ink that can easily clog the internals and complete cease function. If its already clogged, it will cost more to fix than the cost of a new printer.

Thank you !!
