I have the same problem, I am being told that it might be a bad lamp. Mine is a Mitsubishi WD-62528. If anybody has a better clue please let me know.

I have a Mitsubishi WD52527 and I have random purple spots on the screen. I replaced the lamp and it DID NOT fix the problem. I had the technician from the store I bought it from come and take a look and he said the only solution is a new light engine at aprrox. 900-1000 dollars to replace. My TV is only 3 years old. Any other ideas?

Same prob with a Mitsu 52 from about 2.5 years ago. I read in the manual to clean the filter on the back... haven't tried cuz I need another set of hands to help 'de-mount' the TV. I really hope its no anything besides the lamp. I was told when I purchased the TV that the lamp will eventually need to be replaced...so, I was expecting that..

If you have to buy a lamp, lookup the model # of Mitsu (or other Manu) website, but search for the part on-line. The TV Companies double the cost... I've found lamps for my TV for as little as $110 dollars. Mitsu wants like $300 for the same exact Part # and everything.

the light engine (optical block) is failing. there are lcd panels and light filters in the light engine. the problem your having is that they over heated and the image is burnt into the lcd or light filter. my be caused by a failing fan or just it's life span. the lcd panel or light filter are done for. you can keep calling panasonic and bug them over and over and they may send you a new tv. sony sent me one after 5 phone calls. i had the same problem. hope this helps.

Purple spots in the screen

I'd like you to try doing this, select the service menu, and if the spots are still there, it's an issue with the DMD Board but on the contrary it might be the Digital Video Board. If you're decided to purchase the board check discountdashmerchantdotcom they have pretty accesible prices and good service, the only thing is that they only offer warranty to service centers, but they're good :)

Tiny particles of dust on the light engine lens can cause this (and was a service call for me about a month ago), or possibly the expensive light engine.

those are going to be dust spots on the LCD panels internal to the optical engine. i suggest that you take the screen off and take off the panel i nthe middle of the tv with 2 screws in it and there will be an area that has 3 metal fins covering thin orange ribbon cables. the 3 square objects at the end of those ribbon cables will be the LCD panels spray wiht air compressor unitl clean and that should greatly help your problem.
