There is a thin blue line going vertically on the right side of my TV. I have had this It's been almost 2 years.  By the way it is a Samsung 42" plasma flat screen.  I've tried all the out lets & checked the wires.  It only came up after the digital box automatically updates.  I need my screen fixed asap.  Or if I could get some info on how to do it myseslf.  Thnx!

    Regards,

    D.

I just had this problem with my pani pro plasma display (th-42ph9uk). Tried new wires, new cable box and had no luck. So, I went ahead and scheduled a service call.

Then, I bought a new surge protector - just a simple one from Radio Shack, that allows you to run the cable (coax) through it as well and it solved everything. Turns out it was a ground loop problem - and basically had nothing to do with the plasma.

Give it a shoot. simple fix for a very annoying problem. hope it works

Remove purple haze around edges

The set needs to be focussed and reconverged. The red and blue images combined make a magenta/purple image. Adding green makes it white. Depending on the type of TV, if it's a CRT projection TV then there's an electronic focus control for each of the three tubes as well as the mechanical adjustment of the optical lenses. Given the description, then I'd have a look at the electronic focus first. A sudden shift in focus suggests that something in that circuit has given out. This would cause the red and blue images to go soft enough to create a halo around objects on screen.

No picture but sound on panasonic plasma

Unplug the TV and disconnect any HDMI cables to the set. If the issue goes away there is a possibility that your HDMI source is causing the problem. Anything on the HDMI can cause odd problems with the TV since the serial data and serail clock lines are routed on HDMI. Those are the 2 commmunication lines used throught the TV for operation so anything HDMI that might load down one of those can cause issues.
