Yes. The recommended software appears to have recovered the file.

Heres another free file recovery application:

Do not remove your flash drive without unmounting it first, always use the little icon by the clock to remove your USB device, what you have now is typical of a flash drive that was just pulled out of the machine without unmounting the drive.

The icon is the little arrow like looking thing pointing slightly downward to the left, near your clock, antivirus and whatever else you have running.

I am sorry the link is not working for you, I have just tried it three or four times and it worked fine.

    Try:

On our old computer i can see my folders(hidden folders), but in our new computer i cant see it

Some virus make the contents of the drive hidden, thats why user can't see the files. This can be fixed and data would be available to you. However, there are number of steps involved.
It is suggested that go to FOLDER OPTIONS - and select 'SHOW HIDDEN FILES & FOLDERS' and uncheck/ Deselect 'HIDE PROTECTED SYSTEM FILES'.

It would show the hidden files/ folders, if the system not infected Otherwise, from the clean/ virus free system you can see your data and copy all the required files/data. Select the required files and right-click and change the properties of the file by un-checking the hidden attribute. Please note that you can not change the properties (hidden attribute of the files) if the files are marked as system files. To change the attribute of such folders you can download and use iReset. Just select the file or folder and its just as easy to drag and drop to reset all attributes and make the files visible again.(Note that you can reset one folder or file at a time)

Also, make sure that you have a good antivirus installed and its updated. Scan your system and clean it.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Trying 2 trsnfr data off win98 drives to xp drives dont show up

well first of all it would more than likely be a raw data file format for the older 2 drives.

if u are currently running xp with ntfs and know tht the 2 old drives were a fat32 mft then i would recommend using getdataback for fat.

this is the site's info on it
http://www.runtime.org/diskexplorer.htm#DE_FAT

using this link to d/l the program trial
http://www.runtime.org/gdb.zip

it will allow you to d/l the program and to also view the contents of the drive. if you know of a way to get the full version of this software then you could take all of the files from the old hd's and paste them to the newer hd just in case you could not recover the files by normal means. i have recovered roughly 10 hd's that could not be seen normally through the disk manager in xp.

also another tips to try is go to the my computer right click and go to manage. try to see if the volume (name) is not mounted. but it the type or format of the hd says raw then your best to use the getdataback program.

easy to follow instructions on how to use the program. is about 4mb in size.

Sandisk 16 GB USB Drive wont accept large files says disk is full

What is the USB drive formatted as? Look in My Computer then right click the USB drive, select Properties. See what it says under "File System". My guess is the drive is formatted as FAT32. Now FAT32 has a size limitation of 4GB for a single file, which would explain the error. To get over this you need to reformat the USB drive as NTFS. Then it will accept the 6.95GB file. You can format the drive by right clicking it again and selecting "Format" ... choose NTFS from the drop down menu. Be aware that any data already on the drive will be wiped by the format so be sure to back it up before formatting.

I have a Imation pocket flash drive and I'm trying to copy music files from my old computer (Windows 98) to my flash drive and I keep getting error message "unable to write". Any suggestions?

You need a driver for the flash drive to work in Win98. You can download it here:

http://driverscollection.com/?file_cid=393499707811d1cd9a955402f23 - if your win98 computer is connected to the internet use it to download the file, then your flash drive will work
