Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

To your concern, a couple of things you can try:

  • use a memory card reader (instead of direct digicam);
  • use a file recovery software (either camera or card reader) such as GetDataBack.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Viewing images on computer as they are taken

The P100 is not designed for tethered shooting. You can connect it to a computer to transfer pictures after they're taken, and to charge the battery. You could use an Eye-Fi card to transfer pictures as soon as they're taken, but again that's after you've taken the picture.

When I plug my camera into the computer the photos will not transfer from the camera to the computer.

You can connect your camera directly to your computer or take out your memory card and stick it into a card reader that is connected to your computer. The usual connection is via USB.
  • Your camera/memory card to your computer the Windows XP Camera Wizard window should come up when you connect. If it doesn’t then you can bring it up separately by clicking on: Start -> Accessories -> Scanner and Camera Wizard.
  • Choose pictures. the wizard allows you to rotate the pictures and also view picture details like the date when the picture was taken. This way you can determine how you will name your destination folder. Most of the times however, you would just move all the pictures into one folder on your computer without doing anything else…but if you want more information, the wizard gives your this ability.
  • Choose destination. Now you have two fields you have to fill in.
    • The first one is entitled: Type a name for this group of pictures. The value that you enter here will be the final file name of each picture on your computer. For example: I know that the pictures I’m transferring were taken on June 21, 2007 and they were taken at Constitution Park. So, I’ll fill out 07-06-21-constitution-park and then each file will be name like this plus a counter, 01,02, etc. This way I can also identify each picture by its name. Remember: this is NOT the name of the destination folder.
    • The second one is entitled: Choose a place to save this group of pictures. This is the place to specify your destination folder for these pictures. So you can click the browse button (the yellow folder) and choose the destination folder on your hard disk.
  • Wait for the transfer to end. check the destination folder for the pictures.if the transfer didnt work ,then replace the usb cable.hope this helps pls do let me know if you need further help

Can't transfer all pictures from camera to computer

It's very hard to troubleshoot software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But why put up with the headaches of bad software in the first place? Please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

    hi there
    a possible solution..
adobe picture shop can get stroppy with some cameras for no reason.
try copying your pictures from the camera to a folder on your p.c. first.
try inserting one of them into a blank word doc. if it goes in you know its not the picture.
then try opening a picture from that folder with adobe and see if that works.

    hope that helps

Cannon s 500 Picture with Just lines

    Hi,
This is a known issue with Canon, it's mentioned on their support pages, FAQ ID: 37383. Horizontal lines appear in the preview picture once the photo is taken. I have a Canon Ixus 500 and I rang Canon UK and they gave me a case number and list of authorised dealers via email for a free repair.
    Hope this helps

If the images are on the card and transfer OK to computer then we will have to look back to the camera.
You are sure that playback mode is selected correctly - are you?
Check out the hand book for this.
If you are sure - then it would seem to be a fault and the camera should be returned to the seller or the Sony support site contacted with a view to obtaining a replacement
