Hi I am in Australia and have a problem with my Toshiba LCD TV M/No - 37XV500A. I have lost all digital channels and can now only pick up analogue channels. I have done a factory reset but still cannot tune in any digital channels. I have been told that it could be the digital tuner board at a replacement cost of $435 + labour. I have opened up the back of TV to see if I could see any physical damage to the boards, like bulging capacitors. But unfortunately could not see any damage. Can any one help with this repair or even if there is any way of testing the digital board?

The USA converted to all digital awhile back. There are still a few analog channels in my area, but I'm relatively close to the Mexican border. You might try an analog to digital converter.

go out and buy your self a set-top box ( from around$40.00 to $350.00 depending on what you want)

I doubt it has a digital tuner but the owner manual should show that or Google the model number.

Your TV has a dual tuner - one for analogue and one for digital although they are contained on the same tuner board. It's possible that the digital tuner has failed, in which case the tuner board will most likely need to be replaced, but often this problem can be resolved with a "hard" reset. Turn the TV off and unplug it. Remove all the cables from the back, leave it for at least 5 minutes and then re-connect only the cable from the tuner source. i.e aerial/antenna. Make sure you are in Digital TV mode (DTV), then run the channel scan again.

If it works turn the TV off, re-connect all of your other devices and you should be able to resume using the TV as normal.

If this doesn't work, you may need to have the digital tuner replaced. The analogue and digital channel feeds are from the same source. As the analogue channels are working there is no obvious fault with the feed or cables.

Please try this first and then post back for further assistance if needed.

Samsung DVD R150 recorder only picks up channels 2 7 9 10 &28, no digital channels, is this all it will record or am I doing something wrong with the installation?

this is a fault of your digital tuner on the mainboard on some models they can be replaced alone others you may need to replace the whole board

You will need to have an outdoor aerial installed, the signal area you're now living in will not be a strong enough reception for an indoor aerial no matter how good or expensive. You could try the indoor aerial in different positions around the room especially by a window to try & pick up some other channels but the long term this will cause some of the programmes to break up or freeze. An aerial on the roof or in the attic will be your best solution to pick up all the digital channels on freeview.

Our DVD recorder DMR-EH57 is recording but not able to show its video

Are you getting a snowy picture, If so, you`re still on analogue. If you are on a digital channel with say no signal, you should get a blank screen with either a message saying no signal or a dot on the screen. Ian
