Every time the printer is switched on a test paper is given. The instructions to stop this have been carried out but the problem still persists.

    A test paper is scanned straight away, following the instructions given in the hand book, this should then cease the printing of the test paper each time the printer is switched. This is still happening. Solution please.

That comes from not running a printhead calibration/cleaning. try it that way.

How can i reset my canon mp500?

The manual reset Method for CANON MP500 is given below, Follow every step carefully

Press and hold STOP/RESET button.
Press and hold POWER button.
Release STOP/RESET button without releasing power button.
Click STOP/RESET two times and then release power button.

Now your printer enter into service mode. Now

  1. Prepare paper on the paper tray
  2. Press Stop/reset button for 1 times and then press power button, await till printer finished print.
  3. Press Stop/reset button for 2 times and then press power button, await till printer finished print again.
  4. Press Stop/reset button for 3 times then press power button to reset EEPROM.
  5. Press Stop/reset button for 4 times then press power button to reset Waste Ink Counter.
  6. Switch off the printer. if printer doesn't turn off, press button power until printer off.

Every time when i print any document from the pc, my printer will print the document and say paper jam or out off paper and when ever i switch off and on the printer my printer will take test page every...


Sounds like a paper path problem. HP has solutions for "out of paper" message (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00786157&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=306888) and a paper or carriage jam (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00095908&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=306888).
You can try the solutions on those pages, but given that they're all appearing together, it seems likely there's a hardware problem and the printer would require service. Both of those pages both end with a service suggestion if the problem persists.

* Does the same issue persist while making a copy from the unit?

* Does the unit prints self test page properly? Steps are given below:
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Press and hold Cancel on the printer control panel.
  3. Press Start Color Copy .
  4. Release both buttons. The self-test page prints.

The problem is of the Paper feed Assyemble you need to clean it thoroughly, if the problem persists carry the printer to the Canon Care Centre.

Please follow the below given instructions to get the issue resolved.

Just copy and paste the entire link into the Internet browser's address bar and press enter.

Please remove the All-in-One Printer from the Power Surge Protector and plug it directly into a wall Power outlet, as the surge protector may not provide enough power to printer.

Let us power cycle your All-in-one to remove any static electricity in your All-in-one.

Please perform the step given below to power cycle the unit after removing the print cartridges from the printer:

1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Unplug the all-in-one from power and disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power only
4. Repeat steps 2-3 two more times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power, reconnect the USB cable from the all-in-one to your computer.

Please try installing the below patch and check for the result:

A semi-full reset will do the following:

Reset the All-in-One to the factory default settings by using these instructions:

1. Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on.

2. Press and hold Cancel and the Right Arrow while plugging in the power cord.

Continue holding until it displays S Full Reset message in the front panel of the All-in-One.
This should resolve the issue.
