Question about Kitchen Ranges

My simpson evolution 904 electric fan forced oven is cooking unevenly. Everything seems to burn on the bottom and is very light on the top even when I turn the temp down approx 30 deg. I cook everything in the middle of the oven.

yes even when i use the very top self, plus it turns on by itself sometimes.

Think they are just a cheap oven.

I have a Belling DB4 90Ei Cooker and I have noticed a hole in the back of each oven. Why is this

Your oven is fan assisted and that is the fan you can see behind the slots. Air is drawn into those slots and the fan forces air to circulate from the side of the oven. In recipes you need to reduce your temperatures by 10'C and your cook times by 10%. The fan gives very even cooking with no hot spots in the oven. This particularly useful baking cakes. Why are my rolls not cooking on the bottom but fine on the top and my element is working fine

My guess is this is an electric range. If I am right then it has 2 elements--one on top and one on the bottom. Plus you stated it has convection cooking. Sounds like the bottom element in not working right so all you are cooking with is the top element. In convection cooking the fan circulates the air for even cooking.and sometimes has its own element around the fan. Look closely at the bottom element for any burned out or melted areas that might show. Sometimes they just burn out with no outward signs.

If your oven has no heat you'll need a new oven element, if your oven is cooking food too quickly/burning at the back then you'll need a new fan, if the oven is burning everything you'll need a new thermostat, if the oven isn't working at all check that the clock/timer hasn't been set for auto ie make sure it is on 'manual cooking'

The fan oven does not heat up, though the fan seems to be working OK. Any ideas, please? It's a Belling Cookcentre Evolution with electric ovens

If the fan runs and the temperature light comes on but no heat then you will need to replace the fan element.

Simpson Atlas Apollo ceramic top stove, Digital clock etc. Just installed. No user guide to set clock etc. Oven wont work, suspect clock needs setting. Can I get a user guide?

Hello, I think I have the same oven as you, and yes the oven doesn't seem to work unless the clock has been set.

On my oven, there are 4 buttons and a dial below the digital clock.
To set the clock, you need to turn the dial whilst holding any two of the 4 buttons down.

For me it's a two handed job.

Cheers,

Michael

Belling 100df dual fuel cooker

Generally, reduce both the temperature and cook time 20% when using convection.  350 F becomes 300 or so, for instance.  One hour becomes 45-50 minutes.
