My Dell optiplex 320 won't boot windows XP. It starts set up then asks for sp 2 installation disc. I don't have any of the discs that go to that computer

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/900910 .go to this link and it will tell you all about why you need sp2 cd..
mind you if you dont have the windows xp disk one and its not loading its windows at start up you may have a bit of trouble getting it to start in windows.more so who ever you got it of was in the middle of putting a new set of windows on it but did not let it fully load its windows then you will need to get a windows xp disk and put a new set on your self.

I have a dell c640 laptop I am trying to do a clean install, using another XP Pro disc, because I do not have the original, but it will not accept it. Should I just give up on Microsoft and change to...

Well you have a couple of options.

1. Call Dell, tell them you need a replacement "System Restore" CD for your laptop.
They are going to ask you for the model number and ask you to pay $10USD for the shipping and replacement. Total will be about $20USD.

2. Get hold of another Windows XP CD, possible the one you got is upgrade only. If you are refering to the cd key, call dell tell them you had to replace the motherboard on your laptop, and you need a new key. They will give you one over the phone. :-) It's a lie but it works.

Good luck

Need the setup disc... it's asking for set up disc. Said my Config system is corrputed

You can try to reinstall windows with any cd ( if XP ) go trough the installation process and carefully see it will ask you if you want to repair the windows twice the first time the answer is not the second time if you say yes it will reinstall windows but that will not damage any of you settings.
if you are brave you can also boot with win xp cd and try to repair the boot sector.
boot on command prompt. then type
" fixmbr" with no quotes.
this fill fix only the boot sector and your system will work OK.

Compaq Presario C300 Recoivery Disc 2 corrupt

Hi John.

F11 process is not working and you get a NTLDR missing when you turnon the notebook.

Steps to be performed:
1. Perform hard drive self test from BIOS.
2. If it is passed then use retail version of operating system disk to install XP or try using new recovery disks which nay cost you $15.00.

In your notebook model this issue appears if there is any issue with the hard drive.

Well i turn my computer on and it say insert your windows installation disc well i do not have a disc is there so were i can go and get this disc or do you know a sight where i can down load it

Hi !
There is no FREE Windows installation disc. You have to buy one.
You may try to find if some of your friends have one.
You have to ask for the same Windows OS and Version (e.g. Windows XP Pro, SP-2)
