Sony KP-53Hs30 projector tv

Hello,
I am elect tech. I am helping friend of mine fixing his TV's conversions problem. However, I get all the conectors unpluged to take the board out. I came to one problem that I have never seen before till this tv. I could not get the high voltage wires to come out of flyback. I pulled (broke one of them, not good) and could not get the other to come out. Is there a special tool that will release these wires from the flyback, so i can get the borad out? or is there a trick of getting these wires out? if there is special toll, where do i get one? most tvs comes out very ealsily Hitachi, mitsubishi, ect. not this sony.

Also, how do I repair the one high voltage red wire that i broke? this red wire goes from the flyback to the small adjustment board. it broke indise the fly back.

One last thing, could you pint point loction of any caps or conversion STK that needs to be replace to fix the conversion problem?

Thank you for your help.

Thank u big Irish and Slinteriors. Well I am a very experince tech and worked on few TV's in the past for some friends( not my specialties, mostly computer logics on many type of vidio games and CRT monitors). However, This anode wires will not come off on either ends. belive me i played with it for two hrs and was extreemly patience and still no go. The one wire broke so easily and the other still in there. I can not find any way to get these wires off. Also, I am 100% sure the conversion is bad by looking at the screen picture all colors are not alligned. With my experiance on CRT's on video games most of the times caps go bad and drys out. Once i get the borad out i will check the caps as well and replace the STK's. I just don't like to force anything to damge the flyback or the anode wires. There is got to be an easy way. Also, could you pls give me the code to enter the service mode for this TV? And, where are those two 3.5 amp pico fuses located?

Thank you both very much for your help and time.

Good Day, fixitman3;
You say you are a tech. Well , technicians want to be's like you give every real tech a bad name, glad it was a former friend and not a customer.
Why do you think the TV had a convergence problem to begin with? Was the picture rolling?
Any way when a sony has defective convergence IC's, very seldom is there any circuit concerns. There no SPECIAL TOOL to anode wires. To remove broken wire, use small probe to try to twist it out. Probe must be long, thin, stiff, and hooked. One must have patience.
Sometimes you can re dress the wire and insert and make sure the connection is secure.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

You will need two STK392-560 Convergence ICs and possibly a couple 3.5amp pico fuses. also if the small wire borke off inside the flyback you will need to replace the flyback as thats the wire for the focus control block. You can get the replacement parts at the following link with free installation instructions.

The pico fuses are located under the fins of the heat sink. They are yellow there are 6 of them in the long row of 4.7 ohm 1/2watt resistors. They will have psdesignated numbers such as ps001. They look like resistors without the color bands

According to the tech manual I looked at, it's a bad board - it just doesn't say which board. Sorry. Looks like it's making a trip to the shop.

Good luck.

When I turn on my sony (KP 53S65) the screen doesn't light up

The most common problem for this TV is a bad capacitor (C514)
Call a good TV Tech and have him check for that first. Should be a $125 job at the most

Pink? If this is a retangular box that appears then I would suggest to look into the fact that you have turned on "TEXT" mode within the "CC" closed caption settings.

There are products such as VideoSecu PC to TV Presentation Converter. I haven't used them. I'm not sure you are going to get the resolution that you want. A DLP projector does a pretty good job. I know that is not what you are looking for.

Type "PC to TV Converter" in Google. They are about $40 to $60 bucks. Before you buy one, read the reviews.

Good Day,
It sounds like your TV is experiencing a convergence problem. You should contact a Sony Authorized Service Center and have them come out to your home and give an estimate before they proceed with the repairs on your 2001, $1,900.00 TV.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

I have the same problem as faye95. My Kp-53HS30 tv clicks on and then turns back off and red light blinks on and off. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and where can I get a free service manual o

Free service manuals are hard to find and often they are complete. You can get the sony factory service manul at the following link for 15.99 and they will give free unlimited online tech support when you get the manual. They email the manual and info on getting the support instantly after purchase. heres a link if you would like.
