Question about Sony KP-53HS30 53" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
I am elect tech. I am helping friend of mine fixing his TV's conversions problem. However, I get all the conectors unpluged to take the board out. I came to one problem that I have never seen before till this tv. I could not get the high voltage wires to come out of flyback. I pulled (broke one of them, not good) and could not get the other to come out. Is there a special tool that will release these wires from the flyback, so i can get the borad out? or is there a trick of getting these wires out? if there is special toll, where do i get one? most tvs comes out very ealsily Hitachi, mitsubishi, ect. not this sony.
Also, how do I repair the one high voltage red wire that i broke? this red wire goes from the flyback to the small adjustment board. it broke indise the fly back.
One last thing, could you pint point loction of any caps or conversion STK that needs to be replace to fix the conversion problem?
Thank you for your help.
Good Day, fixitman3;
You say you are a tech. Well , technicians want to be's like you give every real tech a bad name, glad it was a former friend and not a customer.
Why do you think the TV had a convergence problem to begin with? Was the picture rolling?
Any way when a sony has defective convergence IC's, very seldom is there any circuit concerns. There no SPECIAL TOOL to anode wires. To remove broken wire, use small probe to try to twist it out. Probe must be long, thin, stiff, and hooked. One must have patience.
Sometimes you can re dress the wire and insert and make sure the connection is secure.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

You will need two STK392-560 Convergence ICs and possibly a couple 3.5amp pico fuses. also if the small wire borke off inside the flyback you will need to replace the flyback as thats the wire for the focus control block. You can get the replacement parts at the following link with free installation instructions.
