Have you confirmed that the correct inputs to the TV are coming from the appropriate outputs of the DVD? If so, try removing the cables and putting them in a different input on the TV to confirm. If that doesn't solve the problem, try connecting your DVD player to a different TV just to test it out. My guess is that it is a cabling, issue, though, so hopefully it should be easy to fix.
