The first thing you need to do is remove the power and leave the cable modem off for 10 seconds. This may seem simple but it must be done with new installations.
If that doesn't work, please tell me what have you tried to do and do you get any errors?
A dialup modem can only go as fast as the phone line it's plugged in to, up to a theoretical maximum of 56kbs. If you live a distance from the exchange, or have a noisy phone line, the speed will be affected.
hello this modem are verry old but works normaly good if you have setup cd you can try to install it if you dont have modem drivers cd download them or the best are to buy a new modem also with wireless posibilitys not verry mutch monny or buy one on ebay or site like these mostaly cheeper than in a store if you buy in a store you wil also have waranty or you can chanche it
OK. First of all you do not need a special or seperate driver for the Ethernet port. Its factory loaded with your OS.
All you need to do is plug the Ethernet cable into the LAN port on your HP Desktop and then into the LAN port (not the WAN port) of your cable modem.
The second thing is if its only a cable modem, then I suggest you proceed with caution as there is NO built-in firewall on a cable modem. Yes you will get on the net, but you are likely to be attacked with virus the moment you connect. I suggest you check very carefully whether the cable modem (if that's what it is) does/does not have a firewall as you would be very unwise connecting up like that.
Next, forget USB connection to the router/cable modem. That technolgy we've moved on from.. Your Vista shodul be 'plug n play' adn should configure the router for you. obviously that bit isn't so slick on yours.
