Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

Open Question

Stuck at 79 degrees

When my thermostat is turned off it still maintains a termperature of 79 degrees. When I turn it on to cool I can change the indoor temp from 79 but after 17 or 18 minutes it reverts back to 79. It won't even hold the scheduled indoor temp and always goes back to a setting of 79. I've reset the factory settings and still the same problem. Can you think of anything?

SOURCE: heat pump auxiliary heat does not turn on

Turn up your outside thermostat in the outside unit.
You should have about 3 degrees difference in one stage to the next. So I would change the thermosat with one that has three stages of heat.

SOURCE: cannot set heat setting by using "hold" feature

make sure it is not telling you room temp, some of the Honeywells, will display room temp over desired temp. check that, if it wont let you switch temp than buy a new one, if you dont have a heat pump a new cheap stat is around 20.00.

SOURCE: Forced Hot Air Heating system doesn't maintain thermostat setting

It sounds like you may have issues with the furnace. A qualified professional can go over the system and the house to let you know if the system and unit are properly sized. The poor performance of a furnace can be a sign of carbon buildup in the furnace.
Good luck, hope this helps.

SOURCE: Honeywell programmable Thermostat won't hold time or program

Most thermostats use a six volt transformer for a power source, similar to a door bell, you can tell if yours does by looking at the wires that are attached to the thermostat.

The wires will be thin with just a single strand if you have these wires then you have a transformer, try and find the transformer (good luck) test it with a voltmeter if it fails the test that's it, if not, call the man. Probably it though.

Friar heats up to correct temp but doesn't maintain

The first thing I would check is the hi limit. If that not out then I would try to a temp. gauge that will read above 350 degrees.maybe the thermostats is not right. Reading to low for the temp.

You may have to reset your thermostat and reprogram it. First I'd check to make sure the batteries are good. Had the same problem. Hopefully you have the booklet that came with it. Bud

With new digital thermostat furnace runs every 10 min.

which type of T-Stat is it ? most standard t-stats have it built in that the temperature range is only a half a degree, it may seem like its running alot more, but in actuality it is maintaining better home comfort as it is not running as long as the old bimetal t-stats which would have a range of anywhere from 2-5 degrees which would cause the furnace to run alot longer, use more energy, use more fuel, and you would notice a definate change in the house temperture before it would come on or shut off, your t-stat seems to be working properly, and it will save you money, remeber also to change those filters !!!
