Question about Sony Grand WEGA KF50WE610 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Bulb life have had the bulb replaced on this tv for going on the third time first time was after about 2 years a year later it was replaced again not even 3 months later... the techs are telling me its not getting vented enough or being used too much neither of which are true im lucky if i get to use the tv 3hrs a day usually only on days off... anyone else having these troubles???

I work very much with Sony units & one of the rpoblems when customer just replace the lamps is like replacing the oil on your car with out replacing the filter it does the job but won't las much & evey time is geting cloged & last less what you have to do is either get a techician to check your fans & the dust inside of the unit if is necesary replaced or at least cleaning very well & make sure it doesnt get any noise aut of the fan it also have a internal fan that require more than customers skillsw to removed is called the Sirocco fan make sure is not cloged it is the mos important part to extend the life of the lamp!

Bad lamp again. The lamp life is not dependent on install date but more the amount of use. Ebay for the lamps, a lot of the time you can get them 50% off for refurbs.

After a period of time, vertical lines appear on the screen. Looks like jail bars. Sometimes turning the TV off, then back on will clear it. All channels. I replaced the projection bulb about 6 months...


no solution, same sounding problem though. last year we were getting lines through the screen and flickering and then the bulb burned out. had it replaced, 2 months later it did it again (they wouldn't stand behind the bulb so we had to buy a whole new one) this time had the bulb and ballast replaced because the repair guy said usually you have to replace both (why didn't they replace them both in the first place?) .. a year later and it's doing it again.. we get the flickering of the screen going on and off and horizontal lines that flicker across it. after turning the TV off and on a few times it seems to go away (or after it warms up)

i know know if i should order another bulb and ballast and spend the money for it to happen again or if it could be something else

MUST READ THIS I have a rca 61" hdtv purchased in 2004 with a 5 year extended warranty (thankfully) and have had nothing but problems with it. it is the worst thing i have ever bought.exactly 13 months...


All DLP TVS are lemons really.Most the Convergence ICS,they use on the board held the picture together will alway die about 1 year or 1 1/2 year all way need it replace.The bulb have life spans but never reaches alway dies before than.

I have the same issue, we've had to change our bulb three times in less than two years. now we have 61" expensive paper weight. Our current bulb is less than 6 months old. The TV is only 2 years old and like i said this is our third bulb.

the blue light blinks 4 times. you get sound. then a few minutes the the picture returns... then it goes out, and the cycle goes on.

A solution to this would be greatly appreciated.

HI,

All I can suggest is to replace the bulb. I experienced a similar problem after about 2 years viewing when the recommend lamp life was approx 8000 hours (I got to approx 3000 hours). There is a service menu you can access where you can reset the lamp hours time. I have read that if this is reached you must replace your lamp, but you can extended this by reseting the hours.

I have since learnt that a lamp bulb can go at anytime, so it is worth having a spare. Also I have noticed that switching the TV off at the switch (not leaving it in standby helps).

Try this to access the service menu. Holding down the menu button on the remote and the one on the TV for a few seconds. I think the TV needs to be off.

From memory, I think it is option 4 and option 5, then reset the lamp hours to zero

time to change the bulb, the bulb doesen't last very long for the price that it cost. I have replaced three in mine in the past three years.

Recent problem with picture


Plasma Tv panel only have a lifetime of 10000 hours. the phosphor inside the panel and the zenon, xenon gas only will last so long . Pretty much like a florescent light bulb.

Sony Wega kdf-55wf655 rear projection set keeps turning on and off


If picture quality is poor, be sure you aligned the bulb in the correct manner and be sure the cover for the bulb is not loose. Also, you might want to re check you picture setting as it might have gotten reset when you pulled the plug (I hope you pulled the plug when replacing the bulb).
Heres another solution (maybe temporary) to the problem of no picture and no sound for 30 seconds. I had my tv's power saving setting on "standard" before. After I switched it to "reduced", the problem was fixed. It has been almost two weeks without the problem. I think its a good fix until the new bulb comes in the mail.

Red light blinks 3 times


When the senior service tech changed our bulb, I watched very carefully, and he said there is an electrical contact towards the rear of where the bulb goes in that bends very easily and that care is required not to damage or bend that connector. His assistant tech then bent the thing, and the senior tech had to straighten it out properly. All the while, he talked about how delicate this connector is. Hope this is helpful to you. It sounds like what he was talking about.
