Screen My laptop is starting up but i am not getting a picture at all is there anything I can do?

If the digitizer is anything like an LCD screen it's probably the inverter more than anything. These will sometimes "light up" for only a second or so, then go dim as they lose the voltage needed to run the backlight. The ghosting may be the ambient light reflecting through the glass when the backlight goes off. Just a guess, but if there is an inverter it may need to be replaced.

This could be a number of things and more info is needed. Are there any lights on the laptop when it is plugged into the mains? Have you tried taking the battery out and plugging it into the mains and switching on?

When you switch it on does the screen brighten slightly? Does anything appear on the screen? If you angle the laptop in the light can you seen anything on the screen? If you plug the laptop into an external monitor and switch the laptop on do you get a picture?

If the laptop appears to be working other than the screen hook a monitor to the video output, if you get a picture on the monitor you can evaluate what is working, but if the symptom is the same the video graphics chip or the motherboard is the issue.

You should first try to find out if it is a screen problem. Turn the machine down, and plug a monitor to it. Turn monitor on, power up the computer and see if you get anything on the monitor. If you get something (like the boot screen) on the monitor then it is not your screen. You will be able to troubleshoot further by going into Bios Setting.

Did you try to connect to external monitor see if you get picture?
If does, You need to look very close the laptop LCD if you have seen any shadow pictures? if does your Inverter or Bulb is Gone. If no pictures on external, Your graphic card is done.

You need to try to isolate the problem. Try connecting an external monitor to your laptop. Press function screen keys. If you have a picture on your external monitor then you have a video problem - most likely an inverter, although you may need a new screen, unlikely but possible.

If you have no picture then you have a system problem. Disconnect the battery and AC adapter. Remove the memory and reseat. Repower your laptop and see what happens.

What you do is when you switch on your laptop, Try to press F2 to go into BIOS or do anything so that your computer won't boot into windows. My question is incase you're in BIOS setup...can you see anything on screen ??? if no then try to look more seriosly that anything???? if no then last test is to plug external monitor..incase nothing on external monitor also then you've problem with your notebook maybe motherboard or screen problem.

Sounds like the CCFL is failing.. (Backlight)... Pink hue is common when these start to go out..
