Question about Maytag Dishwashers

1 Answer

WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH OUR MAYTAG DISHWASHER RIGHT FROM DAY ONE. WE WERE TOLD IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST DISHWASHERS ON THE MARKET AT THE TIME, CONSUMER'S REPORT ALSO HAD REPORTED THE SAME AND THAT SOLD US. I WILL NEVER EVER PURCHASE ANOTHER MAYTAG DISWASHER! THE DISHES, CUTLERY, CUPS AND GLASSES DO NOT COME OUT CLEAN! I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING FROM RELOADING THE DISHWASHER "PROPERLY", TO INCREASING THE WATER TEMPERATURE TO THE HOTTEST SETTING POSSIBLE, TO CHANGING DISH WASHING SOAP (POWDER AND LIQUIDS NAME BRANDS AND STORE BRANDS), TO ADDING VINEGAR AT THE BEGINNING OF THE CYCLE! I HAVE HAD TO PUT THEM THROUGH THE CYCLE THREE TIMES AND STILL THERE'S FOOD BAKED ON MY DISHES AND ALL. I END UP WASHING THEM BY HAND IN THE END HENCE CREATING MORE WORK. I HAD CALLED THE SEARS CLEARANCE CENTRE BY THE END OF THE FIRST MONTH OF THE PURCHASE AND UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME I CAN'T RETURN THEIR JUNK BECAUSE THEY ARE A CLEARANCE CENTRE! THE IDEA OF AN ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY DISHWASHER IS SIMPLY AN ILLUSION THAT DOES NOT WORK! IT'S A MARKETING SCHEME TO SELL A POOR PRODUCT. WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE AMOUNT OF WATER WASTED TILL THE HOT WATER COMES IN, THE TEMPERATURE DROPPING DOWN BY THE TIME IT GETS TO THE MACHINE, AND THE FACT THAT THE ELEMENT DOES NOT HEAT UP THE WATER TO BRING IT BACK UP TO A HOTTER TEMPERATURE (LIKE THE OLD MODELS USED TO), THE AMOUNT OF SOAP REQUIRED ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE TO REWASH THEM A NUMEROUS TIMES, TELLS ME THIS "ENVIRONMENTALLY TECHNOLOGY" SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PROGRESSIVE NOT REGRESSIVE. I HAVE DECIDED TO PURCHASE EITHER A MIELE OR A BOSCH. MY SISTER AND LAW HAS HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS WITH HER MACHINE. HER DISHWASHER HAS A BUILT IN HEATER TO HEAT THE WATER, USED LESS SOAP AND ALL AND I SAY ALL OF THE DISHES, CUTLERY, CUPS, GLASSES AND POTS COME OUT SPOTLESS AND SUPER DRY! THANK-YOU VERY MUCH! I AM VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS SITUATION AND ESPECIALLY UPSET WITH CONSUMER'S REPORT FOR LYING JUST TO HELP PUSH A CERTAIN PRODUCT TO SELL MORE OVER OTHERS! WHAT A SHAME! P.GAJDACS

I understand.
The whole environmentally-friendly initiative represents a new type of technology, and sadly, new technology is not alway fully proven before being rushed to market.
I don't blame you for being upset, but before you rip the thing out by the wires, may I suggest you ask a maytag technician to visit the unit, just to make sure everything is working as it should? Sometimes components get jostled in shipment, or maybe a motor is running backwards, or maybe your home has low water pressure, or, or, or.
If your still not satisfied after it has been checked, then maybe it's time to find something better suited for your needs.
Hope this helps,
Kermit

My Maytag dishwasher is not getting the dishes totally clean. After washing there is a white film left on the dishes. Plastics and Tupperware are the worst. What can I possibly do to fix this ??

in general dishwashers in a home setting use a very low grade of soap and cheep surfactants to get this simple job done.
Problem is that the chemical footprint or residue is not the same for the several different types of soaps that are available.

get three different makes of soap that you like the results of and alternate thru them to cut back on the residue
DO NOT'S
do not run vinegar thru your dishwasher
do not use lemon juice either.

in some markets there is a product called afresh that is made for cleaning out the dishwasher. try it.
for best results treat your hot water with a water filtration system and softening system. With this in place you may be able to cut back on your soap too.

My maytag dishwasher is leaving a white cloudy film on my dishes that won't come off!

First check your rinse aid make sure you have some in there. I have been told that too much or too little of this can cause problems with etching glass and damaging dinnerware. . I would put a cup in right side up and wash a wash as usual and take the cup out and check that water after. Make sure your using a proper soap, and hot water is getting to your dishwasher. Or has it been full and not really coming out over a long period of time?
Another possibility is it is dirty inside the dishwasher, and not draining?

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

The problem is with the control board that is bad and yes these parts are covered less than 5 to 7 years of warranty, for this you have to contact manufacturer. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Dishes are not clean after the wash, dishwasher soap is not completily melted. This is the second time in 2 days.

Firstly check that your Spray arms are not clogged at the holes, then check the soap you use, some of the latest soap on the market (Like Finnish Power-ball), only melt and dislodge when the dishwasher reaches the correct temperatures, check the soap packaging.

Hope this helps

Good Luck :-) - J.Q

Our Maytag MDBH950AWS is only two days old and we are having the

I have one that does not vent. Was told the new one do not vent. Mine is 1 month old I have had repairman out twice. #1 Said my heater worked. #2 said he repaired my venting that was blocked. No steam in front anymore.
The problem with the dishwasher being full of moisture after the drying cycle, also letting it stand overnight after drying, STILL full of moisture! I think this is going to remain like this. After three months is it the machine adjusting to the moisture or YOU!

It runs but nothing gets clean maytag dishwasher

With nothing getting clean, the first thing to do is clean the filter and also underneath it. You will need to remove several screws and the lower spray arm to do the cleaning. Watch out for broken glass! Rinse out the filter as best possible.
Look carefully at the impeller to make sure it spins freely and is not damaged. While you are down there, look for any problems (brakes/damage) with the heating element.
Reassemble the filter and spray arm. Test with a load of dishes.
If problems continue, but the spray arms appear to be spinning well, the problem is most likely a failed heating element. Replacing it should make thing work much better.
Please get back to me with what you find. Good Luck!

Lower spray arm won't spin

Sounds like you may have put it together wrong. I would just take the arm back off and make sure that it all fits together right. A little tip for you too. Dishwashers will clog up all the time with water deposits and food gunk. There are all those expensive cleaners out on the market but the best and cheapest way to clean them is with white vinegar. Simply pour it into the dishwasher when it is empty and run it on the pots and pans setting on hot. Always make sure to pre heat your water too by running the sink till it starts steaming. This will make it easier for your dishwasher to heat the water. If you don't, then when you turn on the dishwasher it starts to fill with cold water and has to heat it on its own. Run the vinegar though through it at least once a month or so and it will extend the life of the dishwasher. Hope this helps. Just try taking that arm back off though and putting it back together making sure everything is fitting properly. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me. Good luck.
