Testing remote control:
The remote control puts out IR (InfraRed) signal that human eyes cannot see, to find out if the remote is sending out the signal or not you just point the remote at the digital camera's Lens (Digital Camera can detect IR), you should see flashing light on the camera's screen when any one of the remote button is pushed. If you do see the flashing on the camera, then the problem is in the TV IR receiver or the main logic board; more troubleshooting with scope will be needed to look at the signals.

I have had several technicians at my parents house they have a sanyo pdp42xr9da with remote rcj17oa the remote dosent talk to tv we have had the tv for two years it did work but now dosent please suggest...

Most of the fault in this kind of symptoms is the remote control itself.
To confirm it, aim directly the remote control to your cellphone camera and press any button key at the remote control. While pressing the button key, you will be able to see the flash of the infrared indicating that the remote control is working fine. If you can't see the flash of the infrared this is an indication that the remote control is already faulty.

Remote control

If you've confirmed that the remote control is working fine, then the fault came from the infrared receiver(sensor) of your tv. It needs to check by the qualified technician to isolate the problem.
Feel free to ask question of you need further assistance.

Hi:
The IR receiver inside the television is becoming intermittent and needs to be replaced. You might also check the connections on the receiver small circuit board for cold or loose solder joints.

Remote control No work

Try another remote control, if it is also not working that means remote sensor in tv got bad and become unable to receive remote signals, replace remote sensor in tv.
If other remote works then replace batteries in bad/ suspected remote and check.
Let me know model and brand of your tv if you have additional question.
Thanks.

I have a 60 inch lg tv. The remote just stopped working Put in new batteries. Tv button lights up on remote but will not turn tv on.

Let me know model number of your 60 inch LG tv to find out possible cause of no remote operation.
I do not think that IR receiver is bad in your tv. Regarding dusty IR receiver lens, you can confirm it by sending remote signal by very close distance to tv.
There are few other possibilities of no remote operation problem instead of bad IR receiver.

Emerson EWF2703 27" No remote will work on tv. Is it expensive to repair, I feel it must be within the tv and the receiving end of the infrared sensor. Any idea of the cost to repair it. Or any other ideas...

Could be your infared sensor has gone bad.or it might just need to be reset back to factory reset. If it was unplugged for a while before this problem arrose then then the reset is probably your solution. Hope this helps.

Remote no longer works after opening rear of TV

I think blowing air cleaned the TV but Remote Sensor at front of TV got more dusty and now unable to receive Infrared signal of remote. That's my theory and can be confirmed by cleaning of Remote Sensor in TV.
