Most modern DSL modems operate as a NAT. If you plug directly into the modem and get an IP address that starts with 192.168, the modem is the NAT. Instead of connecting the modem to the WAN port on the router, connect it to one of the LAN ports.

To see what your IP address is, assuming Windows, open a command window. At the command prompt, type "ipconfig" (without the quotes) and hit Enter. It'll return your computer's IP address.

The simplest way to test this is to simply connect the modem to the #1 LAN port, using the supplied ethernet cable. Power the modem and router down. Fire up the modem. When it's active, fire up the router. Now connect and see what happens.

Rounter is not working

Firstly please check the connections. The modem should be connected to the "Internet" port on the back of the router. And the computer can be connected to any of the 4 ports of the router. Checked the lights. They should be steady. If you have a cable connection2_bing.gif (cable modem) than you can connect directly to the internet. Else if you are using a DSL connection than you need to configure the router according.

**If this works please rate else let me know in case of further help.**

Connect the cable from the LAN port on the DSL modem to any of the 4- LAN ports on the Linksys Swicth (not the port Labelled Internet), then from any of the remaining 4 ports then connect your computer. Also try using a cross-over cable to modem from the DSL LAN port to the Linksys.

Linksys WRT54G wireless router not compatible with Aztech modem?

Darvin, gotta love your ISP. Never fear......

if it isn't too much of a problem (knowing you have wireless setup done already), then do a factory reset on your router ** remember to copy the WEP Key if you have, or recall the PASS PHRASE so you won't have to reset all wireless devices ** Reset is located on back, you need a ball point pen to reach the reset switch.

Reset process: unplug, take ballpoint pen & insert into reset switch & plug unit back in. Sometimes tricky, but you should notice green light goes to yellow/orange upon resetting.

RESET or NOT - you want the Linksys set for ::

Connection Type - AUTOMATIC (for automatic discovery)
Router IP Address - 192.168.2.1

DCHP - ON, Addresses - 192.168.2.100 and allow 5-50 users
(for security, assign the number of DESKTOP + WIRELESS expected users +1, this way you don't get overrun without knowlege)

Take the cable from Aztech ETHERNET OUT to WAN on Linksys. (usually BLUE) (??) not 100% sure as I have the little silver pocket edition of the same Router. - power cycle (turn both DSL modem & Linksys off for 20 seconds. turn on DSL Modem, wait till it's about as ready as possible, turn on Linksys, should only take 20-30 seconds to power up & recognize.

VERIFY SETTINGS: access router - 192.168.2.1, goto STATUS. you should see IP Addressing, SubNet, DNS1 & DNS2 settings. If you do not, then you have no internet connection.

ALTERNATIVE,

Setup Linksys Router with COnnection Type: PPoE, you will need your ISP assigned ID & Password. Follow all other instructions properly.

Setup linksys wrt54g2 broadband router with prolink h9200 modem

You probably will need to make some configuration changes in the Linksys router, or in your computer, or both. Your are correct that you connect the Linksys WAN connection to the LAN connection of the modem. If your connection type is PPPOE, you will need to set that up in the Linksys with the username and password provided by your ISP, so the modem will allow you to login and connect to the internet. If that is how you were connecting to the modem with your computer, you will need to configure a new LAN connection in the computer in order to connect to the Linksys. You can then configure the Linksys through your web browser to connect to the modem.

If you find my suggestions to be helpful, please share with us some details so that others may benefit from knowing the whole story. Thank you!

Cant get to internet thru linksys etherfast cable/dsl router

Reset the modem while the router is plugged into it. Do this by disconnecting the power to the modem and then reconnecting.
