Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Whirlpool front load washing machine Model GHW9100LW2 which fills with water between loads. I think the problem is the fill valve. Is this something I can easily fix by checking for something stuck in the valve or should I just replace it?

Thanks............. replacing the valve is probably the best thing to do.

Replace valve ..easy fix remove top.. left rear is valve just remove inside hose and outside hoses 1 or 2 screws ..no way to clean valve for your problem wouldn't trust it if you could ..be sure screens are in new valve ..if you have a lot of trash.junk in water you may want to install screens in faucet end of hoses or which ever end is easiest to get to this will help keep trash from getting to valve in future just be sure to reinstall them if you have to clean them in future

You need to check and replace water fill valve (blue) located on the back where hot water and cold water hoses connected to the washer. It may get stuck due to corrosion in pipe. Part may cost around 35 to 45 dollars. Next item needs to check is Flowmeter (white) connect after water fill valve. When get dirty water cannot get into washer. The water pressure valve is the last thing to check and replace if the problem is not fixed.

Good luck.

Front load washer fills up with water

Jamesbestor,

The water fill selenoid had junk in it holding the valve open or the seat in the valve is damaged.
Turn off the power and water, remove two screws on the back of the machine and remove the lid.
On the back left top corner are the water fill selenoids. Remove these and disassemble by undoing the 6 or 8 screws ( depending upon model ) holding the unit together. Clean and reassemble, it should take care of the problem. If not, replace the selenoid.

Washing machine filling with water while not running

youll need to replace the water inlet valve, its not seating properly after fill, and continues to leak into machine.part number 8181694. in hte ean time you can turn off water supply to machine inbetween wash loads.A good habit to be in anyway.
