Question about PC Desktops

I am trying to re-install Zune software for 80g Zune; had it on system once, but when updated to 2.1 - install failed . Now when I try to install setuppackage from the Zune.net site, error message comes up that .NET didn't install (fatal error). The .NET framework was deleted a while back (before we knew we needed it, of course) -- and when I try to manually install .NET from the Windows XP CD, it also fails. When I try to install it from download on MS site, it fails. I am fresh out of ideas...have any for me??!! I would very much appreciate it :) Melissa in CA

You will need to install the .net framework in order, version 1, then the updates, then version 1.1 and any further versions after that.

1) Download the most recent windows vista 32bit audio drivers from http://h20000.www2.hp.com (or navigate to the page on HPs website yourself)

2) Once downloaded, run the file. The install will fail but will create the folder "swsetup" on your "C" drive.

3) Open up control panel --> system and security --> Device Manager

4) Under "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" right click the audio device that appears and choose "Update Driver Software"

5) Click "browse my computer for driver software".

6) Click "Browse" and navigate to "C:\swsetup\SP35288\Vista", click "OK" and then "next"

7) The driver should then begin installing.

WIndows XP won't install/ recognise new hardware

Ok firstly can you see the DVD drive in BIOS or any USB Devices Within Bios ?

If yes , we have just solved your problem to both your USB and DVD Drive problems , it being windows , it is failing to communicate device anomalies and is failing to handle device operations.

If the answer was no , you most probably have a faulty motherboard and the problem in question is most likley the south bridge , this is responsible for handling plugged in devices , IDE devicesUSB controller etc.. and communicating with the CPU

On another note in windows you could try one of two things:

1. Completly remove existing drivers , including the chipset and USB control drivers and reinstalling them , then rebooting and trying it all again

or

2. Reinstall the Windows OS and test your devices once more

I Hope this will solve your issues

Thanks , and please dont forget to rate :D

i think you need to update your antivirus cos viruses might have infected the system files. Update your anitvirus or download latest antivirus and scan you system, then try to install the game. If problem persists, do a clean operating system installation.

Compaq d540s hard disk upgrade

Jackwan -

Sounds like the boot record of the drive may be corrupt. When you runs the XP installation, you'll be given an option to start the Recovery Console. Go ahead and open that, should bring up a command prompt. At the prompt, type "fix mbr" (With the quotes removed). Select Yes or Continue when asked, and go through the repair process, then reboot the system and try installing Windows again.

*Note*
You might want to check first, make sure the jumpers on the hard drive are set to Master, or Cable Select, and make sure the drive is connected as Drive 0 on the Primary IDE channel.

Hope this helps!
