First back up all of your music and do this: Turn off the player and make sure it is disconnected from the computer. Then press and hold the play/pause button and turn it on simultaneously. It will then enter recovery mode. Scroll down and select format (all) and let it format and it should work like normal. If it freezes again, then you may need a firmware update.

There might be a reset button on the side just push that in with a pen/pencil for about 5 seconds try turning it on. if its the creative zen x-fi it will be a little grey button and it may say RESET next to it in little white writing.
Creative Zen Try another PC or another USB port Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged Reset Check for firmware update on Creative's website Get Recovery Tool from Creative Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
