Question about Canon PIXMA iP1600 Printer

Both lights on printer flashing

Error 6000 after installing new ink cartridge
I have installed a new black ink cartridge (PG-40 Black) in the B slot in my father's Pixma ip 1600 and it will not accept the cartridge. I've set it to grayscale printing, turned on Black printing only and still it says it's the wrong cartridge. It is a Canon cartridge that has been recycled. There is no color cartridge in the printer as my Dad doesn't use it. There's no reason it shouldn't work.

Cancel all pending print jobs, then turn off the printer , remove all the ink then put them in , turn printer back on and check if you still have the same error.. If yes this can be a faulty printer already...

Good luck........

I would buy a genuine new canon cartridge as it sounds as though the chip is faulty and stopping the printer from recognising it as a new cartridge.

If you set to black and wite it should also print pictures by the way, it does not accept grayscale because it won't be able to print in grayscale photo quality.

If your Pixma does not accept the cartridge at all instead try the following:

    Remove cartridge
    Unplug printer USB
    Unplug printer power cable
    Wait ten minutes
    Plug back printer
    Install cartridge

If it still returns error with lights flashing the cartridge is faulty.

Not accepting grayscale with only black cartridge may be normal, in black only mode it should still normally print pictures.

Pixma cartridge also have a chip with print counter, if the cartridge is refilled chip must be reset. Some non original cartridge can give you troubles sometimes.

How do I fix e07

I assume you have a Canon copier based on the E007 error code. The Fuser fixing film is torn and the Fixing film assembly or the entire fuser should be replaced. Very common issue.......You cannot reset that code without first replacing the part causing the code.

I am refilling the black ink of my canon printer using continuous ink container but the black color doesn't flow into the end of the hose and it didn't print at all, please help

  • Check the printer's power/alarm light. If it is flashing orange, count the number of flashes. Look up the flash code in your printer's user manual to diagnose the problem.
  • 2 Remove and reinstall the ink cartridges if the power/alarm light flashes 5, 7 or 15 times consecutively. This indicates that the issue is a cartridge error, an incorrectly installed cartridge, or an unrecognized cartridge. These errors can be fixed by reinstalling the ink cartridges. Make sure that you are using the correct ink cartridges for your Canon printer.

  • Turn on the printer and open the front cover. The ink cartridge holder should move to the replacement position.
  • 4 Verify that the colored ink cartridge is inserted in the slot on the right and the black ink cartridge is inserted in the slot on the left. Swap the cartridges and reinstall them in the correct slots if necessary.
  • 5 Check to see that both ink cartridges are level with one other and parallel to the top of the ink cartridge holder. If either cartridge is wedged at an angle, gently apply pressure to the cartridge until it clicks into the correct position.
  • 6 Close the front cover of your Canon printer and wait while the printer initializes the newly installed cartridges. This can take a minute or two.

I just inserted a black PG 40 ink cart and theres an error coed 5 indicating that i need to insert a color cart. i set my ink stat to black only and gray scale and it still wont pint

I think you need to have both cartridges in your printer in order to print. If you have put the PG-40 only, the printer can't connect the electric circuit and won't work. Canon's manual explains the error code: the ink cartridges are not installed, or a non supported ink cartridge is installed or the ink cartridges are not installed properly.
So, my guess is either to pop in a Cl-41 and print or, if both cartridges are in, remove them from the printer and gently clean the electric circuit on them with a dry cloth. You can also clean the cartridge carrier. Put the cartridges back in and try printing. If that doesn't work, try holding the "resume" button (triangle in circle) for about 10 sec for each cartridge, that should reset them.

Hope that will help solve your problem!
