Its so high pitched that some people can barely hear it, but I guess I have sensitive hearing. ... Anyway, this seems to be a fairly common issue and it is caused by either the ... You're probably hearing a transformer humming.
The tv problems and causes are 100% is the tv colors wheel it is causes and the tv problems. The tv are having humming or loud buzzing noises sounds are the causes of the tv colors wheel going off and out control of it motor mount and spinning in at high RPM speed and different colors showing up or flahes of black and white color in the tv back ground. The tv colors wheel must have to be replace.Best hire a tv tech to do the replacement of the tv colors wheel, because have to take out many mechanicals parts before can even come to the tv colors wheel is self to replace it.
I can't explain the timing of your problem and why it showed up after lamp replacement, but Samsung color wheel failures are usually associated with a rather loud hum. I would removed the back, jumper the lamp door switch and try to determine exactly where the hum is originating from. I think you'll find the color wheel is the culprit.
Your color wheel needs to be changed. Mine just did the same thing. I changed mine, and the buzzing sound went away, however now my picture washes out with light or yellow colors. The darks look green and purple also.
there are only two moving parts in your tv a fan and color wheel, that noise is classic of a color wheel, I had the same tv and problem. I replaced it myself but it is a little tricky. part is around $175.
Samsung is notorious for having the motor on the color wheel burn out. If the color on the tv starts to fade or shift tones when the rev'ing or noise is happening then you'll know its the color wheel. There are only two moving parts in this set, the color wheel and the fans. If you're smelling something, it could be either. Take the back off the set and put a piece of tape on the lamp door switch and turn the set on. Try to pinpoint the source of the noise. If its a fan, no big deal, Radio shack should have a replacement. If it sounds like its comming from under the set, dig a little deeper and try unhooking the color wheel motor, not as easy as I am making it sound but either way the fan is about $20 to fix and the color wheel is about $100. Sure beats a $400 tech bill. If you get stuck, comment back and I'll send pictures of the dismantle.
