Slide open metal plate, there is a little white finger button with a target symbol on it just to the left. Slide this all the way left, leaving plate OPEN. If your top needle is threaded correctly, you should now be able to push the foot pedal to sew adn the bobbin will refill. make sure not to go past the outer white line on the bobbin case. good luck. the target button will go back to the original position when you slide the plate closed.

How do i thread the bobbin on a singer athena 1200 sewing machine

The Athena 1200 and 2000 are "Touch and Sew" slant needle machines. Singer has not made them for many years, but I always loved them, because the bobbin is wound in place--you don't take it out! You can still get a full assortment of presser feet for them; just make sure they're for slant needle machines.

You would be wise to visit the Singer Sewing Machine site and download your user's manual--it's free, and it will show you how to wind the bobbin. There are a series of pictures there as well. There are several steps you need to take, such as raising the presser foot, selecting the blind hem stitch, etc. Sounds complicated, but I owned an Athena 1200, and I can tell you that after the first or second try, you'll find it quite easy.

Incidentally, did you know that it's one of those rare machines that will do a TRUE 1/2" basting stitch! I kept it for years, just for that ability!

Threading bobbin singer athena 2009

Sorry... hate to say it but modern home singers are $%#&*@.

Have you tried a new bobbin? If the "spindle" spins... the bobbin should spin. Maybe your bobbin is busted or something?

A friend in Kansas with a Singer Athena 1000 (German make) needs a "hook gear." Suggestions?

I think that she will find it at www.sewingpartsonline.com, I am not too sure what she needs but they do have the bobbin case and repair kit listed. She can also talk to them and they can advise her. Good luck

My singer athena 2000 won't pull the bottom thread up to form a stitch. I know this is an OLD machine and I couldn't find the right selection from the list My Singer Athena 2000 sewing machine was...

I think if you watch the hook as you turn the wheel you will see that it is not moving. If it's not moving it can't pick up the thread or sew or wind the bobbin. If you really like this machine you can take it to a technician who is going to tell you you have a broken gear.Always have them replaced in pairs. On this machine there are 2 gears( 1 Pair) on the left and 2 gears( 1 Pair) on the right. If the machine is making buzzing noises, replace the machine instead of the gears. Singer makes a nice machine which sells for around $300 which will do more than the one you have and it is easier to use. Look at Model 7467. I sell quite a few of these and they don't give me or my customers problems.
