I have a 2000 maxima with a bad power socket. It's not the fuse or wiring as many might lead you to believe. Somehow an open circuit developed between the plug and the socket itself.
Now the challenge is finding a new power socket part to fix.
To remove the assembly, just use a skinny flat head screw driver and gently push the assembly from the left or right until it pops out. You can unplug the whole assembly once it pops out.
The ground connector is the defective part on my power socket.
Part 2 - Bad power socket - after looking at the power socket in more detail, it appears to be designed with a thermal overload on the ground connector using a bimetal disc or some similar technology. I'm surprised there are not more of these defective as these have a typical lifespan of about 7-12 years. For a quick cheap fix, you can sand down the ground connector and part of the base and drop a bead of solder to connect the ground terminal to the ground casing. Took me about 20 minutes and saved me the trouble of trying to find or buy a new part. Besides, new parts won't have this thermal overload circuit, unless you buy an old Nissan part. You also still have the fuse protection for devices that draw more than the 10A stock fuse in the fuse box.

You should be able to see if the fuse is bad by pulling it out and looking through from the side. There should be a piece of metal that connects the two sides, if it is bad the piece of metal will be broken. To compare, try pulling out another fuse and comparing the two. Take the fuse with you to advance auto and they can sell you a replacement.
