Hello,

Thank you for posting your problem in fixya. My name is Carlo.

I understand that you have a problem with your touchpad button. TouchPad is disabled sometimes for no apparent reasons. To reactivate, first you restart your computer. If no change, you can activate it by going to the mouse properties. In some laptops, you can try pressing FN+F7.

However, if the above troubleshooting does not fix the problem. I suggest you click on the link below so that you will be directed to a guide a prepared on how to fix this kind of problem.

The monitor does not recognize that it is connected to a computer. The computer turns on, the fan is running, but monitor does not recognize the connection- ie. the power light is on, but in sleep mode...

Hi dmiralle, there are two ways to fix the problem; first, from the "Start Menu," click on the Control Panel shortcut. Next, select the "Hardware and Sound" category, once the next window open, click on the "Device Manager." there will be a list of components that are on your computer, select the "Monitor." Once you open the Monitor's Properties, find the Driver button located at the top of the window, and open it. Next, click on the "Update Driver" button, let it update; restart the computer once it finish. Now the second area of interest is the Display Properties, (Right click or ALT click) on a empty area of the "Desktop" when the shortcut menu open, select the "Personalize" the next window opens and choose the "Display Settings" from the list. Now there will be a button that read, [Identify Monitors] toggle from #1 to #2 your monitor, if you only have one is #1, if you have two monitors, choose #2. Once you have done this select "Apply and OK," and restart the computer. Hope all goes well, let me know by giving a "Helpful Rating." Thanks for sing Fix' Ya

Hello I have no custom paper size option in my printer properties OS : windows 7 32bit Printer: HP deskjet 1220C

I would suggest you to uninstall the currently installed Hp Software and printer's driver from your computer and reinstall them. This should fix the issue if there's no problem with your computer like virus or system corrupt etc... Let me know if the problem persists.

Note: Don't forget to restart your computer before you reinstall the programs after it's/they are uninstalled.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I have installed the update for the scanner to work with Windows 7, and now I can't print anything. The error message comes up that says the printer cannot communicate with the computer. I have tried all...

Unplug the printer from your computer first. Then, I suggest you uninstall the Lexmark software following the instructions on this link: http://bit.ly/cu3xvM. After rebooting pc, check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system by going to the Windows logo Start menu > right click on Computer > Properties. To reinstall, download the driver using this link: http://bit.ly/d7Y1Sz (for 32-bit) or this link: http://bit.ly/ccQxge (for 64-bit). If computer will be looking for the Lexmark OCR software when scanning, just insert the installation disk that came with the printer to install the software. Thanks

When connecting laptop to docking station, message pops up: unknown usb, restoring to an earlier point does not fix the problem.

Dear bansaii2002,
Try to uninstall the docking station by running the uninstall on Device Manager on your computer properties, then Click the Scan For Hardware Changes On Device Manager to find them back!
This is How:
Start>My Computer>(then Right Click to open the context menu)>Choose the 'Properties'>On My Computer Properties Box>Choose the Hardware Tab>Then Click on Device Manager>>> Then Do what I just suggest above!

Good Luck!

Corrupted data on cf card

Hi

The rest may be corrupted. Maybe running check disk will help.

Goto my computer highlight that drive with the mouse, right click and pick 'properties' from the menu, goto the 'Tools' tab and click on "Check Now" check the selection for "Automatically fix file system errors" and click on 'Start'

Later, when reformatting, I suggest using the reformat selection in the camera's menus. That way, the new format is compatible with the camera by default, instead of messing with settings in Windows.

Thanks.

System Administrator

You're Welcome.

I wasn't suggesting you access Control Panel properties, but your start folders properties to add control panel back to it.

As for the user/Administrator account issue, you could try a system restore (I rarely if ever suggest this) to a date prior to the issue and that may get you back into control.

Also if no one else has had physical access to this computer? You may want to boot into Safe Mode (tapping F8 key on boot to key to the Windows boot option screen) and run a full virus scan as this issue doesn't seem likely unless it's viral in nature. Unless someone else has been messing around with it.
