This is a well known problem with Asus laptop. It seems that the generic camera driver in Windows 7 is not compatible with Asus' camera.
Solution: Download the updated driver from Asus support site. Search for your laptop model, and try every camera driver listed. There are usually 4 camera drivers listed/available. So, if the first did not work, try the next one.
Solution 2: Edit Windows Registry. Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sunplus SPUVCb\VIDEOPROCAMP. Change VFlip value to 1.
Solution 3: If you're having problems in downloading your webcam driver, download and install ManyCam. This program is free and can flip and rotate your camera output. Also works with Gtalk, Skype, and other programs.
Looks like your keyboard has been hijacked. Turn your computer off and boot up in Safe Mode. When you hit the power button to turn the computer on immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Select the Safe Mode option. Once safe mode is up things will look different to you. The icons will be bigger and the screen will be darker, that's normal.
If this started happening to you recently say only a day or two ago then lets try doing a System Restore to a date and time before it started happening. Click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. When System Restore pops up look for an option that will allow you to pick additional restore points than the one you see. You want to pick a date and time that was before your keyboard started acting crazy. Let it run to completion then try typing again. Don't worry, System Restore does not destroy your data, documents, music, pictures, videos, (programs (unless you added a program after the restore point you selected)). System Recovery destroys everything and sets your system back to when you first purchased it.
If it's a professional camera... squeeze the tabs on either side of the cover toward the middle of the lens cap and it should come right off. If it's a point-and-shoot camera, these usually slide out of the way automatically when you turn the camera's power on. If you need more information, it would be really helpful to know which type of camera you have. Good luck!
Hi, Turn off the laptop and press F8 and start on a safe mode. Then click start click accessories, click system tools click system restore. You may choose system restore point and click system restore and wait. The system may shutdown by itself but don't worry just wait and let the system do the task. It will reboot and look on the screen if the system restore successfully. Get back to us if this information help you solve the problem.
Don't open two programs that uses webcam, for example: if you have skype application opened with video call you can use the webcam at yahoo messenger. make show application that requires one web cam features like video calling are online opened when needed. if the is a hidden program that you sure to have close it that is still in process, then open the task manager and click on applications, you will see and end it process there, if the problem persist then restart the computer.
Mac's don't need a driver to recognize the camera however they usually need a specific program for different brands of photos. You can also try opening up iPhoto as that will usually recognize the camera. If iPhoto doesn't work and you don't want to install a new program you can also get a card reader that'll connect via USB and will avoid needing any program to transfer photos.
We ran a typical Asus laptop battery of tests, including games, applications, and a couple other areas. Time constraints limited the amount of testing we could get done before the NDA lift (and it's already a few hours late), but we will be providing a follow-up article with further testing and information. That said, if there are any specific areas that you'd like to see tested, feel free to e-mail me or leave a comment.
