Hi...there,
With AC adapter it's to your left, a rectangle piece. Without, it's under you power supply w/ built-in inverter... the capacitors look like a tiny battery on the side it have voltages size ( example like 1000uf 16v ) Good lucks, have a nice day!

Logo appears then a blank screen

You need to open it up and inspect the PCB for bad solder connection or over heated components. BenQ made monitors for Dell, so look at some pictures of failed Dell monitors here to get some ideas what could have gone wrong with your monitors, post back what you see so we can guide you further: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Try checking the settings in properties for this device to make sure they are as you left them. YOu can also uninstall the drivers for the card and reinstall them to see if that takes care of the issue.

BenQ FP71E 17 - how to open

There are 4 pieces 2 each around yellow invertor transformers.
Check visually for darkened back of the transistor. For reliable testing you need to desolder and test with an ohmmeter. Also check the FET Fu9024 or D10Pf for similiar problems.
What is your actual symptom?

Monitor fails during use

Hi, From your description/post, it would seem that something is overheating in your monitor. It is possible to be a cold solder joint or a component starting to fail. Since this involves component level repair, use of a VOM and a soldering iron, it sort of limits a do-it-yourself repair not unless you are comfortable working in such an environment and with such tools and equipment. A sure sign of cold solder though is if when it is jarred it turns itself on. The "growing darker" possibly indicates backlight fading. You may need the services of a qualified professional to have this repaired. Good luck and kind regards. Pls post again should you need further information.
