Question about Xerox FaxCentre F116 Plain Paper Laser
Starting yesterday our display screen is either BLANK or garbled black shapes and arrows.
I called X but we're not under warranty - i'm sure it's a simple solution that shouldn't require a $332 service call.
This is not easy to fix on your own.
This would require a technical person to take off the top cover and re plug the ribbon cable to the screen.
The machine has to be unplugged.
It is not connecting very good. This is why it is giving you garbled information on the screen.
If this is done there is a lot of plastic connections connecting the top cover.
"NEED TO BE VERY CAREFUL IF DISASSEMBLING THIS AREA."
The result maybe more broken parts than you dreamed of.
Breaking the contacts on the ribbon cable will result in replacing the cable and the screen. It is very tricky to remove this top cover without damaging the ribbon cable and plastic cover holder snap ons'.
A service call maybe worth the headaches. But the parts will also cost.
Xerox will warrentty their work for 30 days.

Yoiu can pop the display off and remove all the connectors to it. I have frequently seen poor connections on that product cause that problem.
You can look on Xerox.com for a local dealer service location. They would be much much cheaper.
