Question about Acer PC Desktops

1 Answer

I have purchased a new Acer computer and Acer monitor, however when I turn them on they come up with the message 'no channel'. I have tried pairing up my old monitor with new computer and vice versa. On my old monitor the message comes up saying 'no video input'. I can not see where I may have made an error with leads - I'm pretty sure I haven't. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply. Where would I find the video card? I have checked the pins on the cable but don't see any problems. The cable works in my old pc. I assume you mean did I need to load the computer with programmes, no it came with Vista and enterprise 2007.

if you open the left side of f the computer you will see the card that the monitor hooks too just take the it and aclean it off a eraser works well for this and wipe it off good and then reinsert it and hook everything up and try to boot if nothing is working then you will probably want to get a new one walmart normally carries these or a computer store about 60 - 130 bucks

Monitor no signal acer M1640

Check the cable at the back of the monitor and at the back of the computer. If the cables are in tight and you still get the no signal error message you either have a bad monitor or a bad video card in the computer.

Try plugging another monitor into the computer (borrow one from a friend, neighbor or family member if you don't have one). If the monitor does the same thing and shows a no signal message like your original monitor, then the Video Card in the computer is bad. If the monitors works, then your original monitor is bad.

Acer ASpire M1100 shows No Signal on monitor

Any time a monitor says "no signal" that message is originating from the monitor itself, and not from the computer. A monitor in a room by itself with no computer will say "no signal" for a brief time, if it is turned on. So, if you have tried other monitors also with no luck, then the problem is either the video adapter of the computer, or something that is keeping the computer from booting in the first place (power supply, hard drive, memory, motherboard). A power supply can be tested with an inexpensive tool. Everything else needs either a swap out with a known good stand-in, or else an expensive tool to know if it works.Does the fan come on when you turn the computer on? If so, maybe more likely to be the motherboard, hard disk, or memory. If not, more likely to be the power supply.

Acer official site says:-
Up to 4 GB DDR2 533/667/800 MHz SDRAM
(dual-channel support on four DIMMs)

Try these bus speeds and for dual-channel support read this article :-

Dual-channel architecture requires a dual-channel-capable motherboard and two or more DDR, DDR2 SDRAM, or DDR3 SDRAM memory modules. The memory modules are installed into matching banks, which are usually color coded on the motherboard. These separate channels allow each memory module access to the memory controller, increasing throughput bandwidth. It is not required that identical modules be used, but this is often recommended for best dual-channel operation. It is possible to use a single-sided module of 512 MB and a double-sided module of 512 MB in dual-channel configuration, but how fast and stable it is depends on the memory controller.

If the motherboard has two pairs of differently colored DIMM sockets (the colors indicate which bank they belong to, bank 0 or bank 1), then one can place a matched pair of memory modules in bank 0, but a different-capacity pair of modules in bank 1, as long as they are of the same speed. Using this scheme, a pair of 1 GB memory modules in bank 0 and a pair of matched 512 MB modules in bank 1 would be acceptable for dual-channel operation.

Modules rated at different speeds can be run in dual-channel mode, although the motherboard will then run all memory modules at the speed of the slowest module. Some motherboards, however, have compatibility issues with certain brands or models of memory when attempting to use them in dual-channel mode. For this reason, it is generally advised to use identical pairs of memory modules, which is why most memory manufacturers now sell "kits" of matched-pair DIMMs. Several motherboard manufacturers only support configurations where a "matched pair" of modules are used. A matching pair needs to match in.

Good luck

I purchased a new Acer pc yesterday and am setting it up today. It says no signal on start up.. what am I doing wrong and how can I fix it? P.S: not really good with computers so please keep it...

This message is from your monitor ... there is something going on with your connection between the computer and the monitor. Check all connections - are you using the proper connection? Is there a switch to choose between several different methods? USB? RGB? Other?

Black screen on my Acer 203wbd monitor. Keep getting No Signal message. Have checked all connections.

Try another monitor on your computer. If you get video with another monitor then you know that your original monitor is bad. If you don't get video with another monitor then you know its something with the computer.

If the computer is the problem. Try reseating the memory and CPU. and also make sure the computer has no dust or dirt in it. If you still can't get no video then the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.

also check your memory voltages by looking at the different memory voltage settings in your bios, write down the choices of the different voltages supplied by the motherboard for the memory.
Not all memory is created equal. for example, i purchased some high end gaming memory that matched my system specs only to find out it ran at a higher voltage than my motherboard would supply. Post again if you need more help ..

I have just set up new desktop Acer. Error message: No input signal.

check the website for drivers. But it seems to me that there is another problem most computer boot up no matter what screen is hook up. have you tried any other monitors ? If you have and the work im not sure what your issue is but i would say that most likely if another monitor works that it is the monitor but if none of them work it is a graphic card issue. If you could let me know what you are running and i can help more i.e what window's and what type of graphics card you are using

put the new ram in slots 2 and 4.

Slots 1 & 2 are channel 1 slots 3 & 4 are channel 2, you need matching sets in each channel to run dual channel mode.
