Cd and DVD drives are so cheap these days it's not really worth messing about with them.
Replacing one is very simple process, if you need any help let me know.
Have a look here at newegg to get an idea of how cheap they are now:

Disk drive not working

If you are not facing any other issues other than playing the CDs, I would suggest you to go for an External Drive and get this issue resolved. In case you are facing many other issues and the computer you are using is not a Pentium 4 or equivalent, I would advice you to go for a new computer with better configuration.

Emachine w3050 wont read disk

Try a cleaning kit from any office supply store. It's a CD with little brushes on them that clean the laser eye while spinning.

If that doesn't help (and it might take two or three passes), replacing the drive itself is the next step.

(eM) T1221 operating system not found. I know what might be the problems, don't know how to check each.

If you can no longer boot, you'll have to boot from a recovery cd to run chkdsk c: /r on the affected drive. See instructions here and here.
As far as getting into the eMachine bios setup, try the instructions given here.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Installation windows xp emachine t5082

You must find "eMachine" XP USB drivers for your computer.
If all USB support is "enabled" in BIOS, the conflict is with drivers.
XP is loaded with many generic drivers, however eMachines is proprietary and requires eMachine drivers for most on-board hardware.

Contact eMachines support to locate the drivers (if available).

Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated!

Cannot recover my emachine t3104

You should contact the support center for your problem, it sounds like the CD for the recovery is corrupt, long with a possible HDD failure, try doing a clean install of windows(if you have a Clean install disk) if you don't, try calling the eMachines support number.

Need large disc support for old emachine, flash bios? or try restore cds?

Hi,
flashing a bios, can render your machine/motherboard useless.
You should always ensure any bios download is from a trusted source. if you experience a power failure, or an incomplete bios file. your computers as good as dead.
Windows 95/98 only supports disk drives to a certain capacity. if you updated to windows 2000/ME/XP your problems may be solved. I,d certainly try that first.
Bios flashing Last resort, even after finding a reliable bios update. also ensure the bios file is 256mb-512mb or equivalent. as this is standard bios file size.
Finally check that your hard-drive does not have a jumper ( Small white/black ) plastic block restricting the drives registered size.
When you install windows XP, it will ask you if you wish to enable LBA ( large block Allocation ) Select Y ( yes )
