Question about HP Compaq Business Notebook NX9010

Presario keyboard problem

Have a Presario c769us. Frequently, scrollable windows scroll to the bottom and stay there. I've discovered that hitting esc frees things up. I also discovered that using the scroll up/down buttons cause the problem every time. I think I have a keyboard problem. I was going to try to reseat the keyboard connector but could not get the keyboard off. I unscrewed the two screws marked as keyboard, then tried to free the keyboard but couldn't. I turned the keyboard upside down and gently pried against the top keys but no success. Any ideas?

On the bottom, it shows <esc=boot menu> <f1=setup> <f10=system recovery> but it doesn't respond to anything or move from this screen

Check that your keyboard is connected, and is working properly.
Try your keyboard on a different computer.
Try a different keyboard on your computer.

The 'ESC' key should always work.
The 'F1' key should always work.
If your disk-drive is *NOT* "dead", then the 'F10' key should work.

If neither 'ESC' nor 'F1' work, you have a serious problem with the motherboard.

Compaq Presario C769US PC Laptop heats up.

Right under that area of the keyboard there is a heat sink. If you look in the bottom of your laptop, in that area you will see a vent (and another towards the upper area of the bottom of the laptop). These vents are to keep the internal devices cool.

You can buy a laptop cooler online or in the store

Hope that helps!!

Presario c769us keyboard problem

To isolate the issue please uninstall and reinstall the Keyboar drivers and install the Touchpad drivers.

Here are the steps to uninstall Keyboard drivers.

Click start and in the start search box type Device Manager and press enter.

Then click on the + sign next to keyboard and right click on all the devices listed under Keyboard and select uninstall.

Then restart the Notebook. This will automatically install Keyboard drivers.

Here is the weblink to install Touchpad drivers.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38501-39000/sp38629.exe

Please do not click on the link. Copy and paste it in a new Internet Explorer window.

After installing the Touchpad drivers restart the Notebook to get the changes effect.

I hope this should resolve the issue.

Thanks.
